Hi guys had my biked dyno tuned today.

    Results
    first run at 1 30pm
max power 66.63 max torgue 82.95

    second run at 2 08pm
    max power 73.00 max torque
Iam running S&S slipons and SE Stage 1 air and SERT

    My questions
    1. it looks like they only spent around 30 odd mins to dyno the bike?? would this be normal ??
2.how do you tell how manys runs they did ?
    3. how do you think the number look after the tune ?

    NOW MY MAJOR ISSUE
Whilst the bike feels strong, as soon as you back of the throttle it decels (every time) when changing gears about 50% of the time its backfiring ? sitting on 60kph for a period can feel it surging a bit .. once home whilst idiling and giving it a quick rev it missed fired or back fire... then on 2nd rev was ok.... so guys what do you think ?? IAM NOT HAPPY this was the 2nd time in for dyno tune last time machine not working NOW this ?? plus I spoke the tuner this morning told him I did not want any decel or backing firing ??

ps was done at Harley Heaven ?

I agree with Ando that they loaded a canned map and done some fine tuning to the map. A good tuner will build a new map for the bike taking 6 to 8 hours on each bike. The charge is normally between $500 to $600. Nothing wrong with running a canned tuned map with most stg1 bikes as there close to whats on the bike. Hot builds require more time on the dyno bringing everything in line and then you have the oddball type builds that require more pulls to get a good tune. What would piss me off is if they charged you the full price for a canned map with half hour on the dyno. ?

I think you guys are right the invoice says " Harley Davidson dyno tune and Custom fuel performance and chassis dyno run"

When I purchased the bike was offered a dyno tune for $165.00 throw in with the deal to be used at the 1st service (then I heard from sum guys at the service desk that were offered same deal as introductory offer as they have not had the dyno machine very long).

I will back there in the moring to give them a blast over this as I concider this to be a complete misrepresentation on what I was offered at the time of purchasing my new bike. I will be demanding that they do a proper dyno tune on my bike as to what I was offered at the time of purchasing. If they fail to do this I will take it up with the department of consumer affairs.

Funnily enough at the time picking my bike my today there was a guy picking his bike and complaining that this was the second time he had to come back to have his bike re-dyno tuned, because the first dyno had left his bike with a major flat spot in it. He was also bitching about having to keep coming back to get it right..

iam with you phsgasit, what you just said i have experianced the same thing totaly.decel popping to much for my liking full stop.

back on the dyno "supposebly" 3 times still the same, serging, decel popping, just dose'nt feel right for the money i paid.

i had a103 kit installed with hi comp pistons, 211 cams, pulls pretty hard, all be it up the revs abit higher than i thought

when i asked for loooow down tourque. got recomended the 211s i am no expert so went with what i was told.

my figers are...97 hp.....100ftp.... any way my point is the same as yours, not 100%happy,

dynoed? maybe canned map ? yes.

i am in the building trade, and if i went back to fix up my work 3 times i would not get any work pretty soon as the word would get around.

it just frustrates fuck out of me ,so many of the same storries out there, and it just keeps on happening.

when i have enough cash ,i am going to luffy down victa.

sorry if i stole your thread mate but it does my fucking head in , so many same thing all the time.

    good luck phsgasit......

You are never going to get arms out of sockets, power/torque from these engines. Any increase is better than no increase but I'd be pissed at that effort

hey roadrunner, i am happy with the hp/tq figgers thats great, but it is just the way it runs
that really pees me off, surely these blokes can get a better result than that.

it seems to me that once you start changing these fuel injected bikes there is a very
very very veeeeeeeeeery fine line as to get them right.

Well I took the bike back to the stealer this morning.... Bitched to sum one who must have been the head spanner !,,,

He took the bike for a ride... On his return said he would put it back on the dyno...... 1 5 hours later got the bike the spanner said and I quote " you will never get all the decel and popping/ back firing out " what a croc of crap that comment was...

Anyway bike still decel on backing off powers just no way near as much as b4, it still pops on changing gear just not as much as b4 and still sergus at 60 kph but not all the time... So I am a bit happier than yesterday....

Whilst I won't be taking my bike to them for anymore work with the exception of warntty work. I was at least happy with the service I got from this guy this morning..

I am thinking I will sell my S&S sipons  and buy a full exhaust system as I don't like the sound of these S&S and I am thinking there the cause of all this crap ( what's your fav exhaust for a deluxe guys) then I take the bike to be dyno by someone that can do it right... This spanner this morning did confirm they use a can map b4 dynoing the bike...

    Guys thanks for your input...

You will never get much of a Dyno tune for $165.
A decent tune would normally cost $500, or more.
They shouldn't deceive people into thinking they get a full custom tune.

Never had my Fatboy on the dyno. 2 weeks after I puchased my bike I installed a Thundermax w/Autotune myself, it has never had any decel pop, its been on my bike 2 years now still no decel pop.

I would not bother about putting my bike on the Dyno for the 65 HP or so which it may have, not very impressive in my opinion.

Thanks for all your input guys,

Firstly, the $165 for the dyno was offered to me at the time of purchasing my new bike, it was offered as part of the deal to buy a new bike (however I have since heard that this is a new dyno machine and they have been offering it to everybody for this price.  Apparently it is ending shortly) it does not matter what the cost of the dyno tune would have been as I was happy to pay any price within reason.  The bottom line is I was offered a dyno tune!  Nobody told said to me that it would be a watered down tune just using a canned map and a couple of runs on the dyno... My belief has always been to dyno a bike correctly you need to do it from scratch.

If the steeler/salesman had been honest with me and told me the truth about the dyno not being a full dyno (it was also the salesman who made the suggestions to me about what type of slipons,SE stage air,SERT tunner to use)  I would have declined their offer and went to somebody else who did the job correctly.

The problem that I see with Harley-Davidson at the moment especially in South Australia is that there is only one dealer here and not many in other states, so that means there is lack of competition in this country hence is why their servicing, parts pricing and sell price of their bikes is outrageous and of a poor standard.  It was interesting yesterday waiting for my bike to be picked up speaking to other guys there waiting for their bikes to be finished (about five of them) almost everybody was complaining of the poor service they were receiving from this dealer.  One spoke about the fact that he used to mark his bike prior to having a serviced with this dealer on one occasion he found themark on the  oil filter was still there when he picked the bike  they had not even changed his oil let alone change the filter.  Needless to say he does not take the bike back there for servicing.  He was only there just having tyres replaced (he suggested they were $50 cheaper than anyone else in the state unusual for this Steeler).

But the bottom line for me with this dealer is  "THEY WILL NOT GET MY BUSINESS AGAIN"

Hi phqasit , noticed on the invoice you posted , soft front brakes . I have a 2012 abs Superglide , and am having problems with front brake. The lever , over time , keeps coming closer to the bar . Dealer bled front system and was rock hard with minimal travel for a brief period , but now lever is creeping closer to bar again. Service manager said I wasn,t alone . I,m in Adelaide.

THIS IS MY POINT... this is the 3rd time i have had my bike back re soft front brakes... instead of fixing it the first time !!! they just keep mucking you around... my thought is they take on too much work each day and cannot handle their work load, so the keep putting of there warranty work.. however i think they are playing with peoples lives re brakes so they stupid..

    ozroder no offence taken mate...

have not read all the posts, but my mate knows how to tune HD's, takes him a full day to make maps on an EFI bike DJ 250i with there sniffer system. it's a lot of work, but with a stock motor can't expect big numbers.

Take your bike to procycle dyno in Brisbane and let Fred tune it. Give Nev a ring regarding Fred as he is in the top 3 in australa. He probably trained Nev on the 250I dynojet dyno.

    Hi guys,
You are talking about 2 of the best Dyno drivers in Australia. I have personaly known Fred and Lushy for a number of years, sadly for Nev Fred is much younger and better looking ,I think Lushy was buying his first dyno about the time Fred was in year 10 and well on his way to bigger and better things!
