Hi Guys I was wondering if anybody has some ideas as to how to improve the stock brakes on my 09FXD

I have had a look around and have not turned up much in the way of ideas.

The power is ok but find myself with the thing wide open often and so I want to do a power improvement, but before I do that I would really like the bike to stop much better than it currently does.

    Cheers Sledge

    1: braided lines
    2: floating rotors
    3: performance compound pads
    4" re-bleed with better fluid

    DONE!

     Thanks for the feedback fellas.

I probably wouldnt bother changing over the front end to get twin disks, would sell the bike and buy one off the floor with them if that was the only way to improve braking.

I have looked for the brembo callipers but have not found then to suit yet, maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

I have already put better pads on the bike but would still like better braking.

Has anybody fitted braded lines and if so, how much did it improve the braking?

    Cheers Sledge

    Thanks Keld,

I already have a floating disk (stock ) on the front

so I will head into the stealers and see what they have to suit.

Maybe just get a pair of floating roaters that match,

any preference/ ideas on performance pads

Coming from sports bikes, ones which way just over half what my Dyna does, I was pretty shocked at the little 2 pot caliper sitting up front my it's lonesome...

I thought I might have to fred flintsone the bike to get it to stop.

    Good info in this thread!

rode in to Harley heaven today and got some new pads ( no not harley ones) and asked about the braded lines, none in stock so will see what I can find on the net over the weekend.

As far as floating disks the one currently on the front of my bike is the only one avaliable apparently.

a rear floating disk is avaliable but nothing to match the front.

A bagger with a fender just setting on the tire, just for reference.  These are 320mm SS real floating rotors.  I use these Brembos a lot, they are rebuildable, and work well.
