Looking at a 2008 Electra Glide standard , motor has been upgraded from 96 to 103 Screamin Eagle big bore, with sreamin eagle heavy breather air filter, and sreamin eagle pipes. As I'm not overly mechanical, are there any questions i should ask the seller, and things to look for when a bike has this type of upgrade.  By the way I think this bike could be bought for about $21,000- 22,000, it has 30,000ks,  is this a good price? Advice and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.   PS, not a grey!

The new FLH's have the 103 motor in them as stock now, along with ABS etc. Considering you would pay in the high twenties for an FLHX  that is a year old,  I think that unless the bike is bloody immaculate with a lot of bling, you won't get your money back in a hurry. They are a good bike but look at the rear shocks and front springs for slop and check if a fuel upgrade has been fitted and properly tuned with the big bore kit.  You can also ask a dealer what you would expect as a ballpark  trade in for one , to get a closer value. You then make your own decision. Good luck....

The 2009 tourers came with a new frame and wider rear wheel and tyre. The 2008 and early tourers have a frame that causes the bikes to rear steer under fast rough sweepers similar to a death wobble. I have a 2007 FLHT with a bucket load of money spent on it fixing the handling problems. If I total this bike and need a replacement I would be buying from 2009 up.
Good luck finding the right bike. Take your time and test ride a 2009 Model before buying the 08.

Thanks for the advice so far. With regard to the frame changes from 2009 onwards, yes no doubt it is an improvment, but surely if the 2008 bike is in good nick, I should'nt have in the back of my mind I might get the death wobbles and kill my f--king self. (Were the Electra Glides renound for this?).   I'm thinking if the motor upgrade to 103 has been done properly, I'm getting an  upto date power plant, plenty of bling, and then it's up to me to work out the right price. I reckon I might get the price down to $20,000 or a bit below, how am I going now?

I have progressive heavy fork spring, 416 air shocks, stabilizer brace and I'm very happy with this set up. It cost me less than 1000 dollars and I can go through 70 kph corners at double the speed with no bagger wobble. The bagger wobble is not a out of control tank slapper but more like having a flat tyre with the bike wallowing around half way round a comer at 120 KPH. I plan on keeping my bike for life with no plans of selling so if your prepared to spend a few dollars on the 08 it will corner just as good as a 09 model. The 07 & 08 where very high geared with 6th gear being next to useless unless your pulling 130 KPH before changing up to 6th. Ask the question about what tuner on the bike because this is needed to help keep the motor running on the rich side for cooling with the stage 1 kit fitted. It does sound like a bargain price. With any luck it will have a early SERT tuner that can be upgraded to the TTS.
Good luck and let us know what options come with the bike.
I try and help with advice if you buy the bike where to get the best price on the stabilizer and any upgrades you might want.
    Good luck
