    Hi,

my 97 heritage was an import from Navada us, so I'm wondering if the mainjet would be different to a main jet for here in oz,

    it has a S&S E series,

not sure what difference the fuel is over there octane wise and should I be looking at what spark plugs to put in it,

checked the plugs this morn and they are blackish around the out side but the prong is a grey,

I have tuned the carb the best I can and I did notice it pre-ignited when I turned it off after a hardish long ride,

what should the timing be set at, I will use a timing light to check it

    regards Stump

set-up S&S E   EVBT = 29.5 idle jet,  74 main , around 7/8 - 1 &abit turns out  mixture screw ,  make sure acc pump is working  & set so it does not squirt heaps,  but straight's straight  away ,    clean full tank & cock  etc 1st

My sporty does the same every now and again, thought it was normal-run greatmost of the time.

i pushed the wrong button,     anyway timing should be checked  if using stock style  ign system  set  double dot @ idle  ,1996 & up,                   if it';s aftermarket use the single dot  that is the full adv mark  @ 2,500 rpm & up with the timing light , + if she high comp  2 deg's would not hurt , i would replace the inlet manifold to head seal s only $8 , too make sure you know there done

Well after all this time I finaly did the jets on the heritage,
I also picked up a set of V&H longshots second hand ( $250 delivered in EX cond )
the bloke I got them off was running a 28 / 72 jet
    and I had a 29.5 / 72
so was nice on the gas but rich while putting around
since changing to the 28 / 72 it is running sweet, no lagging, barks off the mark
    and I'm one happy chappy
