Had trouble with my brake lights recently. Started at the back of the bike ,pulling bits off testing them etc. finally got to the lever,microswitch was fine . When I put the controlls back together I noticed the far right bottom screw was missing. This enabled just enough gap for the lever to miss the micro switch. So check your screws.
