Finally got around to stripping the paint off my tank today; not an easy task!!  I'm happy with it; may not be to everyones taste but I really like it!!  Ended up sanding it back with an orbital, then hitting with some wet n dry and then polished it with a drill style polishing wheel.  It will need a little more work, however after spending the entire day do it..............just wanted to get it back together to see how she looks

Apologies for the photo, was in the garage putting it back together during the storm this afternoon and haven't had a chance to get it out on the street!  Its still pretty filthy, will clean it up later this week when the new exhaust, air cleaner and headlight arrive and take some better shots

What are you doing to stop it rusting ?

The way it has been polished should ward off most rust, but in also going to hit it with the ACF-50! Worst case scenario, will just keep up the maitenance

Have you thought about Chrome or Silver paint, or even Metal Flake ?

Interesting look. Have you thought about putting a clear matt lacquer coat over the tank? That'll protect it and match the matt look of the rest of the bike.

Are you changing pipes?

That looks cool. +1 on the clear coat, that will keep it from rusing and it will maintain the polish.

How much surface rust was under the HD Paint ?
