G'day boys.  I pick up my 97 softtail heritage springer next Friday and I want to arrange insurance before hand.  I live in Sydney but I suppose it doesnt really matter where the insurance company is.  Anyone got reecommendations.

The bike is one owner with 34,000 on the clock no real mods except for a bit of chrome hear and there and custom pipes. (bloke is a tool maker and fabricated his own pipes)   Bike is a off white with a blue stripe. Its my first harley and can't wait to get it.   Paid 18,000 for it.  Looked around a bit and that seemed fair price.

Anyone can help me with the names of good insurance companys to deal with would be appreciated.

    Regards

G'day Jeffro, I got mine through the dealer, went with Western QBE, I'm a long time NRMA insurance member & they could not even get close to the price from QBE.

Spend some time on the pooter looking around, I used to fill out the online forms, get the paperwork at home then ring the various mobs for a deal.

Good luck & let us know how ya go.

    Jeffro,

Mate before you do anything check out Shannons as they have always been between $500 and believe it or not $1000 CHEAPER than any other quote i have got from anyone else.

I was with Suncorp but they put up my premiums up by $200.00 so i shopped around and went to the local Harley dealer and went through them. They have a list of insurance companies on their computer and go through the cheapest and best one, and dont get a kickback. Mine is with a WA insurance company as well but can't remember the name at the moment, saved a fortune though.

Bump, Western QBE, have insured my last 4 bikes and I have shopped around each time but they always have the best premiums.

GIO quote for me was more than $1100 a year - despite having the car insured with them.
    Shannons wouldn't insure me...lol.
Insuremyride was $500ish if I remember rightly
    QBE was $400ish.
E-bike insurance is $25ish a month so $300ish (if my maths skillz hold good) a year.

Excesses were between $400 - 700 - though most would drop in a year to around $300.

I checked into all the insurance companies and every fucking one of them seems to have a horror story of some kind and a bunch of people singing their praises. I went with e-bike due to the savings, and they offered me rating one (no one else would despite never having made a claim) and they seem to have a free roadside assist (like the NRMA/RACV etc thingy) that comes free with full comp...

YMMV and read the bloody fine print - if in doubt ring the company and confirm any details.
