HD Forums Australia 2 months old today!

Well the forum is two months old today.  I remember when I started this forum I thought it would be good if we had 100 members in two months time, we now have 240 and to date there's been 4,176 posts.

Something that has surprised me is how many members are readers and not posters.  Maybe that's just the way with forums?

Havings said that we get an average of 210 visits per day.

A few interesting stats for the month of October, the site had:

    • 6,516 visits by 1,271 unique visitors, 95% from Australia
    • Breakdown by city: Perth: 2,066, Adelaide: 1,075, Brisbane: 891, Sydney: 882, Melbourne: 710, Canberra: 90, Hobart: 49
    • 17% new visitors
    • Average time on site per visitor was 15 minutes
    • Biggest day ever was 1 Nov 2007 with 285 visits
    • 10gig of downloads

A special well done must go to Dazza for organising the WA Overnight run.  Six pages of responses that's bloody good in anyone's language.  I'm sure it will be a great event.

I'd like to thank all the members that visit the site regularly and promote it's continuing success!

I'm sure the site will only get bigger and better in the coming months. Keep the posts coming!

    Cheers,
    Kinchops

    Magilla,

Sorry dude there weren't any stats for Darwin. The only other two were Kwinana: 46 and Cairns: 28.

Be assured if it shows up on the top 10 I'll definately put it in next mont's post.

    Cheers,
    KC

    Thanks Mega.

Yes I think it's a common thing for people to lurk on forums.  I rekon a lot of people benefit from the information and discussions that go on here even though they don't post.

Hi mate, you've done real well. 10GB tho? that's a bit much for the amount of data on here?!

I custom designed, built a site for the new model Hilux which is here www.newhilux.net that I got going 12 months ago, that's now booming with almost 1000 members! hopefully you'll get that figure easily within 6 months !

    alchemist,

Good stuff on the hilux site, it looks good.  The 10 gig of dowloads would mainly be pics, this site hosts it's own pics and I've set a 300k limit per image so it doesn't take long with that many people reading posts to chew up 10 gig.  Would be interested to know what methods  you used to promote your Hilux site, I've been using Google Adwords but I'm getting pretty much to the end of my budget for it?

Word of mouth mainly and got a bit a mention in the 4wd monthly/action magazine... maybe get the site featured by one of the local mags in exchange for advertising? are you being paid by the advertisers or is that free for them? cheers

Cool.  Heavy Duty has said that they will post my letter to them in the upcoming mag so that will be good.  I initially let people advertise for free but I've recently started charging now that the site is getting more popular.

Well Done Chops Keep up the good work.

Another way of looking at the successfulness of  this forum is.. Now people who have never met before are now starting to get together for rides ect.

Getting to make new friends, learning more about bike issues, techniques and from what I have seen so far no animosity towards anyone.

The common  thread here is the enjoyment of a ride and I guess the company of like minded people.

Lets hope we can learn/teach/advise each other and have non of the useless crap that seems to creep into other forums and groups I have seen

    Scorp,

Very well said. Yes, there has been an abscence of any kind of animosity on this site, lets hope that continues.

    Guys,

Thanks very much for the kind words. Also appreciate the offers of financial assistance but thankfully the site doesn't really cost me much to run now that it's set up. I have a good friend who lets me host it for free on his system which is great.

    Chops,

As the others have said, Thanks for creating this site.

O.S. site's are good but sometimes our Aussie wit and humor doesn't go over that well

Keep up the good work and I wil be sure to pass on the website address.

I was a member on another bike board and they had some business cards made up and sent them out members so they could pass it on when they came across other bike riders...( it worked very well and is not very expensive )

    Cheers

    Paul.

    Kingchops

First let me congratulate you for a great site. I found out about it from other member and I already passed it to my 4 mates.

Secondly I'd like to respond to the person who said that there is no animosity on this sit - GREAT, keep it that way. I am a migrant who arrived here 21 years ago. I love this country and would not live anywhere else. My passion is four wheel driving, fishing and now my Harley.

I love to ride and I'd like to learn more. I hope that this site will help me to achieve that.

    I am living my dream!!!!

Paul.C - others have mentioned the idea of creating business cards, sounds great to me I'll get on to that.

Czarek - I'm also a fellow migrant came here from Greece 36 years ago and I'm only 38.

Great to see that you're enjoying the site guys and thanks again for the kind words.
