HD Assist vs RACQ

So......Harley Assist runs out next month. Got the new card today with a note saying sign up and the card is activated.

Says its $110 but HOG members get it for $88. Since I am a HOG member I will get it at the cheaper price.

I am also a member of RACQ and currently pay $74 a year for Roadside Assist. Goes up this year to $78.

Now, if I pay $173 dollars I get RACQ Ultra Care which will also include assistance for the bike. If I leave it at the Roadside Assist and renew the HD Assist it costs me $166.

Cheaper yes, but what is the consensus with everyone with regards to RACQ trippas and how they deal with my Bob? I have never had to call HD Assist (touch wood) so do not have any experience with them.

I would love you to hear what you all think!

    Thanks

I'll be honest and say I've never had any dealings with either (NSW and touch wood) but I understand that everyone gets treated different. If you have a good experience with one company, stick with them until you get fucked over or find a cheaper option offering the same deal. The fine print is what will make the difference. Good luck and I hope you never have to use either, just remember to read the fine print of every policy and every 'letter' they send out, as those 'letters' can make a huge differnce to what you signed up to.

not sure about the harley assist.. but with racv ultra, you get up to $15000 worth of claims a year including acommodation. hire car, bike taken back to home if anything happens more than 200 k from home and it cant be fixed within 2 days. lots of fine print but apart from the bike, it also covers you for ANY car that you are driving at the time of break down. they dont do bike repairs. only fuel... but will used specialist bike transport where availiable. and if not avaliable. i believe will arrange a trailer.
for my way of thinking its the cheapest form and best value break down servive around. i used them a few years back. not a hassle.

not affiliated with rac in any way except i have the ultra road side cover. and i have 4 reg vehicles all covered as long as im driving.

RACQ, no contest. The ultimate package is the way to go. Used it twice so far with the bike and once with the car.

Had HD assist out once a few years ago , bloody useless, 2 day old bike loose electrical plug left me on the side of the road didnt want to stuff around with a brand new bike (should of ) all they checked was the battery for power then left me there for an hour and a half while i waited for a tow truck, 37 deg day and no shade, at least with RAC cover it does the cages to for the $$, no idea if RAC can actually fix stuff tho.

Feel free to check these numbers but my experience with Harley Assist is the more you need it the less use it is.

Towing is limited to $500 and their contractors only.

If you are broken down in your own home town you probably have access to a mate with a trailer.

If you are broken down a long way from home, in my case on the SA/WA border, HA is pretty much useless. They suggested a tow to either Perth or Adelaide would cost $2,500 with them covering $500 once again their contractors only.

    cheers
