     Hey all,

I'm back with another mini weekend project. I really like the smoked lense look, and having a look on ebay and the HD dealerships, the lense kits seem to be a little pricey. On a recent trip to Autobarn, I noticed a new spray paint by VHT called "Transluscent Black" specifically designed for blacking out indicators (not for use on headlights). Without further aideu, how to black out your indicators:

    What you will need:

    • Pan-head screw-driver
    • Wax & Grease remover (comes in a spray can)
    • Soft drying towel
    • Cardboard box modified to be a mini spray booth
    • VHT "Night Shades" Transluscent Black spray paint

Step 1: Remove the indicator lenses:

This is very simple, there is a nook on the underside of the lense, simpy insert your pan head and gently twist and they pop right out.

Step 2: Clean your indicator lenses:

Give them a good dose of wax & grease remover, then wash it all off with water and dry the lense caps with a micro-fibre towel or similar

    Step 3: Spray paint lenses:

Place your lense caps into the spray booth and spray noting the spray cans directions, about 30cm away in even strides, etc. Rotate the lenses with the screw driver, you can rotate them on the little "attach-lips" on the underside of the lense that hold it in place - quite handy!

Note not to spray them with more than three seperate coats otherwise the layering will be too dark to see the light at all. One coat did it for me!

    Step 4: Let them dry:

I let them sit for about 2-3 hours, no rush

    Step 5: Refit:

Simply push them back into place, noting the nook is at the bottom again. Make sure you give them a test to ensure you can see the light - mine didn't really get affected at all.
