Gidday, was wondering if anybody has had a go at converting headlights on latest model fatbob to domestic model ie/ usa model, so you then have twin lights high & low. I have purchased all the parts, so I have domestic reflector and H13 plugs for bulbs. when I wire these up you have the problem of your electrical light coming on to show there is a fault. 2012 fatbobs now have a BCM module and now only have 3 fuses unlike previous models. I am trying to get problem sorted out through my local HD dealer and HD australia and even they are unsure with new model and may have to consult HD USA. They have talked of the park/ position light on the international models being an issue and may need some sort of resister that plugs in to park light bulb connector. Help???cheers Rossco :-)

Problem has been solved thanks to my brother inlaw from Windaroo, QLD, both headlights are now going and it was all sorted through his electrical knowledge and researching 2012 Fatbob electrical manual, thanks Grant Lee, should be working at Morgan & Wacker in Brisbane

Also there is no issue with park/position light, simply removed bulb and redundant bulb housing is tucked away in headlight housing, so all you need is a domestic reflector (usa) which comes complete with H13 bulbs, also you need H13 wiring harnesses to connect to bulb terminals, then wired correctly job is done and there is no fault code light aluminating on dash, just fat twin headlights on low and high beam instead of sick looking one eyed monster coming at you. If you need to know about which wire does what goes as follows: inside headlight is three wires which are black, yellow and white, black is earth and other two are high and low beam, centre wire on harnesses are earth and depending on where you get your plug and play H13 harnesses from and how they are configured the outside wires are low and high so simply connect matching side to yellow wire and remaining wires to white on bike, then test as I did, and if back to front on dip switch simply switch them around , wollah, happy biking dudes

     G'day Kiwi ross,

I have a 2012 Fatbob and was riding the other day which I noticed some spider web thing cracks on one of the lenses...went to Morgan & Wackers and they told me I can not buy that one cuz they come as a set and will cost me $300 !!! cut the story short..decided to do the conversion as it will cost me almost the same...

I have some questions about the conversion....

    1. do you think this conversion will work on 2012 models?

    http://www.harley-davidson-hangout.com/forum/hdrcgb-twin-cam-tc88-tc96/83562-heres-how-get-both-lights-lit-fat-bob.html

    2. where did you get the reflectors and is the part number 69800-08?

    cheers

Gidday there, my Fatbob is a 2012 model as in 103 cu and the conversion is based on my research, it works perfectly, I got my domestic reflector which is as you ask part 69800-08 from my HD dealer in NZ, my brother inlaw who lives in QLD has done the same conversion and got his through SYS harley in Sydney I believe, reflector comes with bulbs and you only need to get H13 heavy duty wiring looms to complete the parts required and you are in business :-) if you need anymore info feel free to ask, cheers Rossco.

Had to do nothing to stop fault light coming on just remove park bulb wire it up correctly and you will have no problem with fault code light, I had my bike at a HD dealer and they could'nt do it and when i sorted it they looked red faced :-), so did you do the conversion ? Burto.

It's far easier to swap the whole unit out for a US spec one.  One cable connector and one bolt.

    Jst saying...

It's the whole assembly.  Twin light on the bracket with a cble dangling out the back.

To fit it you need to loosen, but not remove, the fuel tank to allow access to the wiring harness in the spine of the frame.  Disconnect one plug under there and then the old light assembly is removed from the lower tree by a single bolt.  New unit on, one bolt.  Connect it up, one plug to connect.  Replace tank (two bolts) and seat.

It took me less than an hour to do mine.

Some Aus dealers will not supply the light assemblies as they are not 'e-marked' and therefore not legal here.  I got mine from the US before the shipping ban for around $270 I think.

Doing it this way also means that I have the original tucked away if I ever decide to sell and need to get a roadworthy on the bike.

I still buy stuff from the US and use Goopping as a shipping address and forwarding agent.  www.goopping.com

I have all my oringinal stuff if I sell my bike, cost me $ 450 to do the complete conversion and took me an hour once I out smarted HD dealer. In NZ we get ripped of with cost of things and there is nothing you can do about that :-(, I also changed my H13 bulbs with blue fancy ones, much better bright clear light. Also we have to get warrant of fitness checks and i got my bike put in front of a light board to see if light direction was a problem as i was told that usa reflector would point the wrong way, turned out that that was not the case as they have a flat beam which means low and high beam is straight up and down no problem with warrant of fitness at all. We have plenty of second hand american Fatbobs on our roads imported into our country and they have warrant of fitness's and no issue's with our laws, just saying  cheers Rossco :-)

Fatrob, Your idea is the perfect solution, but from NZ it would have cost me ridiculous money, like over $1000+, so in my case it was a no brainer, at he end of the day I just wanted my bike to have two headlights going all da time and not go broke doing it :-)

Whats it like riding at night with this conversion. Are the dual lights good, and do you think it was worth the $400 odd dollars for the conversion. I've been tossing up between this conversion and the 7" led headlight but they are even dearer. But have to do something cause riding at night is a joke.
