Hi. Just bought my first harley, a 1985 softail. Just have a question about the indicators. Is it normal that I have to hold the button for the blinker to stay on? As soon as I let it out, it turns off. I come from sports bikes where you just click it and then push it in to turn it off. All I have is a button on each side but no way to turn them off!!

Any help is greatly apperciated!

if ya press button once they should come on then press again should go off on the earlier ones some had a proper on off switch like the jappas too

any thoughts on what might be stopping this from happening?

just imported an 85 FLHTCL had the same problem turns out some states in US u cant have a blinker that stays on so the made it so you  have to keep ya thumb on the fucker. I was told on here to put a badlands TURN SIGNAL CANCELLER , this I did and it worked fine got mine from http://www.eastcoastcustom.com.au  this is their blurb http://www.badlandsmotorcycleproducts.com/2008/Products/BETCSM.htm#ATSIII  I think it cost around $100 with post from ECC fitting is a breez just read the paperwork well just remember if all else fails read the directions
