Danny Gray seat or Rocker

Just went for my first decent ride with the new Danny Gray seat installed.

The seating position is great... a little lower and a little further back.  It also looks sweet.

I shelled out the extra $100 for the gel option... but gotta say that I am not impressed with the comfort of it at all.  2.5 hours in the seat and some seious numb butt.

Does anyone know if these get more comfortable with time ?

I don't think so Macka. I am hoping that I just wasn't sitting in the right position - took me a while to find the best position on the stock seat too.

This is from their web site...

"What are benefits of having gel installed in a seat?

At Danny Gray, we use a state of the art alternative to gel. The "gel" we use is actually a viscolastic dry polymer. This stable solid is not a liquid so it will not leak; get as hot in the sun, freeze, or ruin the seat cover like other gels will. Our gel distributes the weight of the rider evenly over the surface of the seat to relieve stress points. The gel forms to your body reducing pressure points and increasing blood flow to help prevent "numb butt" syndrome."

By the way, have you found something to cover the side bolts ? I have seen a few pictures of rockers with a colour matched cover, but no idea if this is a HD or aftermarket part.

That would be the plastic bolt covers that come on the standard rockers

Contact yogi-2 on the forum, he's adapted a cover that looks better than the plastic

    Guys

just out of curiosity, did you look at Bitchin Seats before choosing Danny Gray?

    http://www.bitchinseats.com/01/modules/multiMenu/

I have one on my rocker and they are superb, hide the frame better than a Danny Gray also, very comfortable

    Cheers

Yeah, had a look at the bitchin seat, but a) it's a fair bit more expensive than the Danny Gray and b) I'm 5.9", which would have meant the stage 2 seat... all a bit too complicated.

That seat looks great Walka - pity I didn't know about it before I coughed up for the Danny Gray - I'd suggest creating a separate thread with some other photos and Con's contact details - do you have other photos (a side angle) ?

thanks dan food for thought, is top shelf this stuff at heartland. expensive though. hey do u know if its worth buying though, i mean i like the new 280 conversion they have on there, and i suppose only issue is gettin the fender repainted. u think it be cheaper here to do this in aus? i do like the second seat options they have i gotta get a solo seat though this one i have is crap.lol
