As my 48 is still running stock exhaust I can hear it run.

Have noticed that on decel - just pulling up to the lights a whining noise from the rear of the bike.  Gets worse the longer the ride.  Took the bike in and the dealer couldnt find an issue (The bike annoyingly decided to not make the noise on the day I took it to the dealer).  They adjusted the belt anyway and the noise went away for a week but has now returned.  I was advised to clean the belt, but NOT to use any silicon sprays on it.

Its pretty noticeable and I was concerned its a mechanical issue. I'm used to quiet japanese bikes - first Harley.

Anyone had this ?  I want to nail any warranty issues while Ive still got warranty left and dont want a loud exhauset to mask a technical problem.

Sportster forums seem to suggets its normal and if theres no impact to performance or anything else to suck it up.

 

 

I can't say I've had the same thing exactly but both my sportsters (iron & 48) are a little noisy in the clutch area. And I've had mine checked and serviced and there's no problem with 'em. It's just the way sportsters are.
