Hi all, I am a retired school teacher living in Kingston, southern Tassie. Since retiring, I take off with my wife Nella, over the winter period, as grey nomads. In the meantime I get around on two wheels as my main form of transport. I love boating and fishing and have an old 30' wooden cruiser with its original 4 cylinder 1948 Perkins diesel engine that pushes along around 6 knots. I started riding back in the late 60s early 70s but then had a long break till 2007 when I went for my motorcycle licence. Bought an Aprilia Scarabeo 200 scooter to get back into riding and within 6 months was in the right place at the right time to upgrade to a beautiful red Aprilia Scarabeo 500ie. Over the next 4 years I rode both locally and on interstate tours, racking up over 34,000km. Last October, Richardson's Harley Davidson dealership openend here in Hobart. I went along with my wife and was greatly taken by the new 2012 sportster 883L. I organised for a test ride the next working day and couldn't believe how easy it was to manoeuvre and control. I weigh in at barely 60kg and my Scarabeo 500ie has a street weight of around 200kg. I was quite apprehensive at being able to handle 260kg, but the grin when I returned after 3/4hr said it all. I took delivery a couple of weeks later after getting a sundowner seat, pillion pegs, sissy bar and backrest fitted. Have now clocked up over 2,600km and am thinking of going on an interstate tour before Easter.
