The IAC could be playing up mate. I fitted a 51mm throttle body that I brought from the states and had Dan Vance work his magic on. Anyway after fitting it to my bike was up and down with the idle so I put the IAC from my old throttle body and it fixed the problem. The 07 bikes had problems with some IAC's. They can also get a carbon build up and you need to spray carb cleaner into the pin hole just before the throttle plate in the body. What year bike do you have ?

I suppose it's out of warranty now ? I bet the dealer would find the problem this time around because your paying the bill. The IAC can be checked with a SESPT, TTS ect but not sure how it's done with the fly by wire body. It would be in the service or electical diagnostic manual. The IAC, throttle blade setting and the TPS are all tied together so you need a laptop plugged in to check it from a cold motor untill the bike warms up watching the voltage reading for the IAC steps. The throttle blade stop screw came lose on some 07 models and could cause similar problems.

I would get a price on a new IAC first and if there cheap fit it to the throttle body. The IAC is the round nanger on top of the Throttle body closest to you when the air cleaner is removed. Two security screws holding it in place front and back. The rear screw is a bit tight to get to but I changed mine on the bike with no problems. Simple job that should take half hour with air cleaner removal. The early 07 down tourers you have to remove the throttle cables aswell but with your bike being cable less it should be a easy job.

    Good luck

    Aussiesport, Hogbag,

I do not have a DBW bike or service manual, but I would check the "trouble shooting section" of the relevant service manual and then if there is no joy, check the "electrical maintenance" side. You may find instructions on a voltage/current check to the sensor. This may confirm that the IAC is indeed faulty and will need replacing, but the problem may be something else, process of elimination.
It pays to have a good workshop service manual and you can purchase one on CD from USA ebay for a fraction of a hard-copy price.
