Nice one choppersmad - have you already retuned ?

Went for some new pipes on the weekend too.
Getting the note right is a very personal challenge.
The performance baffles for the V&H true duals were way too loud for me and I am a deaf bastard.
We used the "Quiet" baffles. The pitch of the note is completely different, much lower to my ear.
Was a happy duck by the end of the night even if I was bored shitless after 2hours watching Dyna Hell.

    Hi choppersmad,
i run the V&H Straight shots on my 09 FXST also, plenty of my fellow iron horse riders have commented that they look the part for the bike. I have been playing with the TTS Mastertune and after a couple of runs the note from the pipes is great! some say too loud but it sounds a bout right to me. The V&H from all reports have a back pressure issue with decel but you can tune this out.
I like the look on your bike also, the classic look suits the softail style.
Are you a Tumut boy? i was over there in September last year, visiting my old stomping grounds.
    Cheers, Paul.

    Choppersmad,

When you take the decel out or reduce it sufficiently and then effect the air fuel ratio which the Vtune process works at getting baby bear(just right), yes the note is affected. Mine went from blurry burble to (which I thought was OK as I am not an experienced tuner and did not know any different), to a deeper rumble albeit very suttle, a couple of mates who ride with me on occasions have commented that the sound is much better then when I first put the pipes on prior to the TTS process.I cannot really appreciate it as we trundle on, but the responsiveness at the throttle is noticeable.

I am the same as you, I have earned a living swinging spanners (not now though) and the EFI was always left to the experts, However this TTS is so complete for the HD bikes that I could not pass it up. I am sure that as a member of this Forum you would have noticed the amount of discussion that centers around TTS, there are some very knowledgeable people onboard who are very helpful.

One of the features of TTS is that it allows you to be involved to the degree that you want, you can pick a calibration file for your rig from various sites (here included), load it and ride your bike and be completely happy, or as I have found after awhile, that I need to know whats going on and have commenced the tunning stage, it is so interesting!
If there was one thing that I would say, you do need an extraordinary amount of time to play with this, especially when starting off.

Now let me speak on your capabilities! if you are of average computer literacy, have average mechanical aptitude with the ability and desire to make your iron horse sing, you have the capabilities to master TTS. Admittedly this is a steep learning curve and if you are like me (average) I have to keep referring back to various resources for further understanding and clarification. But already I am seeing an improvement in my machine.

Hope that this may help you, take care. regards Paul.
