I know this only very loosly tied to HD, but interesting anyway. Kurt Sutter, the shows creator, is introducing Victory bikes into season 5. His reason being, he is sick of giving HD free advertising and not getting anything in return. good on him. I saw the Victory stand as the Bike Expo last year, good looking bikes without the HD premium price tag.

well stands to reason he could be getting a paycheck for it. Why not though!? If i had a huge TV show on my hands and someone was giving me free bikes and money just to use em...you'd be dumb not to. Davo, Kurt Sutter seems to be a man of his word from what I've read, so I'd count on it. Unless HD step in and offer something.

great news...now the muppets that read the papers and listen to the media etc, will beleive that all Victory riders are the real crims...

The bike world needs some new (non jappa) blood to take off. HD need to lift their game so any kick in the head helps.

You want a can of coke shown on a tv show you pay for it , you want Heinz baked beans featured prominently , on the side , in happy days , you pay for it . Harley obviously don't think they should pay for it , fair enough , but the show like it or hate it is very popular in the states and here in Oz , so you cannot blame the directors for wanting money ,

Has to wether or not the free advertizing helps sell Harleys , well Red pointed out that Harley have only sold 210,00 units which is down , but the other side of the coin is the states are in a big reccesion maybee without all the free advvertizing , they may well of only sold 150,ooo units ,,, who knows .

Personaly i think it helps them it helps enhance that bad boy image that a lot of Harley riders want and are willing to pay big dollars for , has pointed out , the main buyers are afluent 47 year olds .

Personaly i've said it for years if the 1% clubs all started riding Triumph rockets or bonnevilles , Triumph would take over ,

I base this on the fact , that most ,,,, NOT ALL ,,,so don't get knickers in a twist but most Harley riders would'nt have a fucking clue if its a good bike or handles well , because they don't ride them enough . They buy them for a image they have in there heads ,

Talking to a couple of guys last week , one commented on me riding a Harley with a textile jacket on with yellow piping on it , One actually said he would'nt be seen dead in it ,,,, my answer was thats cos you don't ride your shiny bike , if you ride to and fro from melbourne, at night like i have 3 times this month , and put some fucking miles on it ,,, then maybee you'll change your mind ,,, then asked him how many klm he had on his shiny steed ,, the answer was 4500 , bike was a 2007 fat bob , I pointed out i'v done 12 ,000 in 6 months and thats on one bike i've got another ... mind you he did have a lot of fucking badges.

Well that would be shit... I'd still watch it but a 1% MC on Victories?? Wtf

it probably did give the show 'cred' in the bike world, but the show probably would've had enough cred based on Sutter's previous show The Shield in TV land i think...i guess we'll find out once they're riding Victory bikes around Charming.

 I haven't seen the show, but from what I understand, SOA is making money (and probably BIG money) from a show based on the lifestyle (1%) that Harley has been a part of for 70+ years and now somehow Harley owes them something for the priveledge of helping the show to be a success ? Would it have been as successful if they were all riding Hondas ?

Just wondering if they'll 'announce it' on the show, as in make a point of the new brand. Or, as some have said, the average Viewer can't tell one bike from another so the Polaris might be slipped in under the radar.

'Product placement' is worth HUGE $$$ in movies so HD should make an effort to keep Polaris away.

Similarly Coca-Cola had an opportunity to buy and bury Pepsi back in the day but didn't coz they pooh poohed Pepsi as a threat. Learn the lesson fellas...

 

I'm sure the "victory" bikes will be changed so much that they wont look anything like the ones they sell in store anyway.

Really don't care if they ride a Harley or a Victory or a Japanese bike, its not the bike that makes me watch the show.

I liked the Sopranos, The Shield (same writer), Board Walk Empire and a few similar shows. Don't think I am an expert on the Mafia the Cops or Prohibition it's just entertainment and better than the Kardashians! Hilly , give it a go and don't worry about what others think

 

Coz if I'm watching a show based around bikes I'd rather look at Harleys than Polaris.

I enjoy the show - but I gotta say Season 4 started to get reallllly dark. With a few of the really likeable characters dead, another off the deep-end and the heavy criminality, I'll given season 5 a watch, but the kinda hard-core criminal syndicate thing has ruined it for me.. I much preferred it when they were just doing minor stand-over work, dealing with rival clubs over territory and minor racketeering and criminality.
