Thanks Kiwidave. I have head breathers so I'm guessing it's the later model?

Hey Dave or anyone else for that matter ..... i`ve been told if buying a EVO to go for a 96 to 99 model ..... is this more so because Mother Harley had sorted out most of

the bugs by then ..... and do these models still have the bearing problem metioned earlier in this thread ..... and are there any other main issue`s to be wary of .

    Thanks .... Tim .

Hey Dave thanks for info on book ... have found a place here in Aussie Land that can supply it .

You were saying that 1996 and up models with fuel injection were not well recieved .... were these models only a option as i thought it was still possiable to buy these years models still with carbies .... getting that book will put me straight with some luck .

Thanks again ..... cheers Tim .

Thanks Dave for confirming that info about there still being carbie model EVO`s between 96 and 99 .

Do you or , anyone else who may have an opinion think much of the after market carbies available for theEvo`s up to the 99 model such as S&S or Mikuni or any other ones out there on the market or do you think the factory Keihin were the way to go with the Evo`s ..... seems a lot of people went with the S&S B series but was courious as to what other forum members thought .

Thanks Dave , i think the whole looks thing if most guys and girls were being honest has a far greater influence on them than it should ..... i`m certainatly guilty of it in the past and proberbly will be again in the future , but am happy to here that the factory carb is fine ..... one less cost to consider ... for now ... , Lol .

Thanks for the Super E info ..... might start a thred on carb mods and see how many people have changed from stock and why .

    Thanks Dave .

put a Mikuni on my Evo, ran with the CV before then and a modified CV, compared to the CV the Mikuni makes a shitload of difference in starting and performance in my opinion.
mine was kick only for some time and now has the magic button still havent touched the mikuni since the day I put it on. Hotted up the motor a little and carb is still sweet. flex with the gearbox is an issue when upping the HP and can cause some vibration issues requiring re alignment to settle it down. I have known Evos to do around 300 thousand klicks before a rebuild so they are a strong motor easily rebuilt.

Gdday Jacko , thanks for the response .... good to here about the Mikuni .... good mate has one on his 96 Evo and like yourself has had no problems at all ..... if i go down the Evo track it will be a toss up i think between the standard .... the Mikuni ..... and the S&S Super E ..... so come on House sale , Lol .
