Hi Guys,
I have repaired my starter motor and found it was the starter clutch kit needed replacing. With the old starter clutch kit i noticed the centre gear which slides on a bush was sticking, therefore wouldnt engage and start the bike. I paid $155 for a starter clutch kit and i think if i was to press off the first open bearing clean and wash the gear and bush and reassemble with a new bearing would it be as good as the kit i bought for $155. The reason i am asking, would the bush which has no signs of wear to the naked eye actually be worn due to the gear wearing it on an angle under load over time. This bike is 16 yrs old and done 50k with no previous problems. Would the repair i propose last another 16 yrs or only last 6 months. Any feedback would be helpfull.
