My name is Jodes and my son Jake who is 16 almost 17 is looking for an apprenticeship in the motor cycle industry.

Can anyone help me, it needs to be on a train line not far from Blacktown. So lets say up to Richmond, to Penrith, and down to Parra.

Jodes i have had a look for the job site and i cant find it.I have put a message out there asking if anyone knows where it is.As soon as i hear any thing i will let you know.

 One question, are you doing this FOR your son or are you doing this to HELP your son?

Not been insulting, got five boys of my own, I help them if they help themself.

Firstly, I didnt ask for insults, and to me your initial comment is..

I asked for people to let me know if they knew or hear of any apprenticeships going to pass on the info.

Secondly, my son has handed out his resume to places and applied online but not getting a foot in..

So, along comes me, his greatest supporter, offering to try something different.. Hence my little blurb..

If, you, arent writing on my page to offer info or assistance or even goodluck support, pls, keep your opinions to yourself.

Im  only doing what any parent would do for their child... HELP..

Goodluck with your 5 boys, I hope you offer the same support as I have with my kids...

Thx heaps for the link, we were in HD B'town today. Handed in a resume and fingers crossed. He would kill to work there.. around the corner from home too..

(PS: Jake finished yr 10 last year.. And has already done a Cert II TAFE course, so he has the drive and determination, just not the job to put it into practise...)

 

A smart move to mention this on the forum as often it's just who you know that counts and plenty of blokes here have connections with HD places. Good luck.

Thats what I thought... So here's hoping one of the fellas see this posting and give Jake a helping hand and the start he wants..

And just to mention.... He will work with any motorcycle mechanics, not restricted to HD either..

Jodes , first of all welcome ,, secondly , i cannot offer a job but can offer some advice , and that is has an employer with 2 apprentacies , (building trade ). Over the years i've been approached by dozens of dads to give there son a job .

Unfortunatly , its almost always ended in tears , simply because its been there Dad who wanted them to get a job , they just wanted the money , I said i would never have another apprentice or kid , it just was'nt worth the effort . but my last and current apprentice , well he was a pain in the arse , kept ringing me, every week it got to the point i said to the missis , .... I'm sure this kids fucking mental .

Anyway he rings me and says , sorry to ring for the 150th time , but i've found a job if i can find a reference , i said can't help you mate you have never worked . He then offers to work for a week or two for nothing just so i can give him a reference ,

Got to be honest , felt for fuck sake give the young fella a go , anyway give him his 2 weeks work and an apprentaship , best fucking worker i've ever had , , in fact he's going into his 3rd year this week and he's on nearly full wages by the end of his 3rd year thats this year , he will be on full wages and a bonus i'm gonna have him signed of from the apprentaship and given his papers .

Point being get your son to pester and pester , theres dozens out there who want what he wants , He just has to prove he wants it more ,, Tell him don't give up .

Mackay HD had a position vacant sign out the front a couple of weeks ago, did not take much notice but it did say apprentice on it
