I had Santa bring me my new flush mount gas caps and excited as I was I am now not so, from the word go they have been a pain, easy thing to fit bit the LED dont work at all now and this means the puta reads LO RANGE no FUEL, for me this is a pain and nothing works for the best side of $300 i think Harey needs to know, anyone else with the same issues???
I had the black fuel cap also the black fuel guage with the LEDs they worked fine but I always used the trip metre to guage the fuel level.
Recently change to the new HD Tacho/Speedo worked great but now it comes up with V IN Err which is probably a vin error.
As for you problem it looks like you have a broken circuit as I had the same problem when I disconnected the fuel guage as everything needs to be plugged in correctly as the fuel guage is connected to fhe fuel pump, without the fuel guage connected correctly you will get the low fuel light error on your speedo.
Did you connect the wires up correctly when you installed the new guage.
So far so good with mine. (electrically)
The two things that irk me is the actual cap (not the gauge) is not 'flush'. Sits about 1 - 2mm higher than the gauge. Also it doesn't seem to vent like the old cap. Never used to get the big rush of fuel vapour I do now when I release the cap.
My fuel LEDs are unreliable so I stick with the trip meter. Also my fuel cap stuck a few months back and I had a hell of time trying to get it to pop up so I could unscrew it. I put a bit of light machine oil on teh mechanism and it's been ok since. Great look though.
