Can anyone tell me, does the exhaust flapper valve on the muffler pipe have to be operational to pass a safety certificate/roadworthy test ? cheers.

I feel sorry for you blokes in some of the other states.

My local mechanic just asks for the lights, blinkers and horn, and I'm done!

I actually asked him if he was worried that my pipes were loud and if he checks them.  He told me that he has no way of doing that, and the form doesn't ask - so he does not bother.

Plus - he is a petrol head anyway and loves the fact that it's loud.  LOL!!

most blokes that do rwc in qld dont give a shit as long as it all works or looks like it does as for pipes flapps ect you can change em as soon as your home after the inspection most check lights brakes oil leaks ect just the basic shit to get you done an them outta the shit
the flap actually stops the gasses in the rear pipe so the engine heats up an gets to operating temp quiker bit like the hz holden manifolds ect but if disconected or taken out the best thing for ya bike is to let it warm up bit longer normally till both heads are nice n warm to hot then off ya go if ya dont warm up besides not havin good oil to all parts ya get a slight wrong reading from the o2 sensors they need to be hot to get the correct reading
