Hi running a closed primary with a diaphram style clutch and I am having trouble selecting gears when the bike is hot. I can select any gear as per normal when idling and for the first 5 kms or so but as soon as the bike warms up it feels like the clutch becomes un adjusted. You cant select nuetral unless the bike is turned of then it is fine. It clunks into gear when you start it back up.
Cheers Jona
So it sounds like the clutch is dragging when warm.
How old are we talking about with the clutch mechanism? (not worn? )
Try adjusting with minimal freeplay, say 1/4 turn back-off on the adjusting screw and next to bugger all with the cable.
See how that goes.
Cheers I will try that,
The clutch assembly has only done around 100kms. If I adjust it much more it slips under power but I will check the adjuster again.
OK, new clutch, there's a good chance that you'll be surprised with the adjustment if the clutch needed to be bedded in.
what oil is used ?, when adj clutch back cable off 1st then adj adj screw downstairs too 1/2 turn out & lock then re adj cable done cold , bike should be able to push backwards in 1st gear with engine going if not there is a problem,
Thanks for the info I will try and re adjust, I am using harley trans oil in the primary which I am hoping is correct.
Thanks again.
