That guy in the video was damn lucky!

I got rear ended in the wife's car at an intersection near our house by a hit-run driver. Driver still at large. And then like Nomada I got tapped from behind without knocking me off, by a Rodeo with a bullbar, at the same intersection less than 24 hours later while riding the Ducati. Only broke the number plate bracket and small dent in an exhaust can, then I scratched the pillion seat cover while trying to dismount with his 4wd still up my clacker. Almost $4000 repair bill. Driver didn't even get out of the vehicle. Just admitted liability and gave me his details. He had to deal with my verbal wrath brewing from the day before. Chucked the broken bracket in my backpack and went directly to the local police station to report it. Showed them the broken number plate bracket (with number plate still attached) and they threatened to fine me for riding it to the police station without a visible plate.

All good points, and like most, I stay alert when pulling up behind traffic.

Now... I probably shouldn't relate this little tale, but I can't help but chuckle to myself when I think of it.

Wife and I were in my car following another another bloke and his wife who were on his 750/4, we were going somewhere, can't remember the details. Anyway, he'd pulled up at the lights way ahead of us, of course, and we were slowing, approaching him from his rear. Then, I don't know why, but the devil in me made me yank on my handbrake to lock the rear wheels.... I was fully in control but he didn't know that. I still get a huge grin on my face when I remember his wife jumping off the back of the bike and his head twisting round in panic when they heard the screeching tyres....and then two sets of bulging eyeballs checking me out.

I think he was ruffled a bit, and guess I can see why, but he took it in good humour, although, thinking back, I'm pretty sure he was grinning between gritted teeth.....

Don't come down on me, blokes....it's just the exuberance of youth.... funny as, but!

I've been rear ended at least 4 times in cars might be even more. So it happens a fair bit.

Stay upright Course say that when you stop always pull up with a way out or an escape route!
Always leave your bike in gear so that you can ride away from a potential sandwich!!
Always keep your eyes on the rear vision mirror to see if you need to escape!!!
Always be alert to what's going on all around you, be alert!!!

As I'm slowing down and close to stopping I casually glacé in my mirrors to see if whatever is behind me has seen that traffic has come to a halt
