Grumpy,
Ive got a 2011 street bob. The seat has a plastic toungue not a metal one like yours. Anyway the tongue cracked which meant the front of the seat would move around. I took it to the dealer and he tried to tell me that i put the toungue on top of the metal rod on the frame rather than under it. (I reckon these blokes think we are serious fuckwits sometimes) anways, I said bullshit and they replaced the seat.
In general, businesses may decide for themselves with whom they wish to deal. No one has an absolute right to be supplied. Direct Quote from the ACCC.......
I've seen these plastic seat bases crack since the mid 90's,
Best repair is to find a Plastic Welder / Upholsterer and have
the cracks welded up .....
Well done Grumpy, whatever the fkrs have written in the warranty they are still liable for defective products, its about time the pricks took the Australian market seriously.
Even though i have an old Harley if i were to buy a new model i would go through Geelong Harley, i get oil, filters and little bits and pieces from them and never have a problem, they match or better all prices i take to them, some dealers are genuine motorcycle enthusiasts some are just pricks.
Good luck and keep us informed.
they probably gave you my old seat gilsie. The toungue snapped off
I've had a few problems with "never seen that before" - seems to be a running defect on all of my bikes.
Look something like this?
