Anyone keen for a ride this weekend in Melbourne?

    Hello all,

First time I've put up a post re organising a ride so please excuse the ignorance etc...

Haven't been on a ride with a bunch of Harley's before (probably because I've only had mine for a month) but been on a bunch of rides with Sports/Race bikes in the past... So..... was wondering if anyone was keen to go for a ride this weekend starting at Port Melbourne (Station Pier perhaps) and then to wherever anyone else wants to suggest as a destination. Given the weather is suppose to be good (23 Saturday and 28 Sunday)... and yes I know it's Melbourne so it could change... I thought why not start off the year (well, second weekend of 2012) with my first ever Harley ride/cruise from Melbourne to wherever with a bunch of Harley's roaring through Melbourne and possibly somewhere up the coast? No doubt should be lots of fun!

Anyway, I'm open to suggestions for starting times and eventual destination/s as my plans for this weekend (suppose to be a bucks weekend with the boys) have fallen through (dude is no longer getting married!) and it's now a blank canvass to do and go wherever!!! :

PM if your keen for a ride and/or I'd be grateful if you simply contribute and add some suggestions for the ride on this forum...

Hope you're all well and riding safe!

I might be up for it sunday ,depends on a few factors .
a ride up the coast sounds good ,lots of fuel stops for the 48's .

    - Ride from Port Melbourne (Station Pier)

Description of ride:   Riding from Port Melbourne (Station Pier) sometime before lunch to Portsea (any other suggestions are welcome)

Date:  Either Saturday 14 January or Sunday 15 January 2012 (depending on the feedback.. but probably Sunday as it's the better day weather-wise)

     Destination: Portsea Pub (or thereabouts)
Route: Meeting point is Station Pier in Port Melbourne then ride up:

    1. Ride through beach views (i.e.Beach Rd/Beaconsfield Parade/Marine Parade/Ormond Esplanade/St. Kilda Street/Esplanade/Beach Road until we get Nepean Hwy and continue riding down the Hwy
    2. First pit stop is Frankston - Car park near Sofia's restaurant (off Nepean Hwy near Frankston Visitor Information Centre)
    3. Continue along Nepean Hwy until we get to Mornington and we turn right into Main Street (towards the beach)
    4. Left into the Esplanade and ride along the beach which eventually turns into Marine Drive/BruceRd and back onto Nepean Hwy
    5. Continue on Nepean Hwy until it turns into Point Nepean Rd and were back along the beach... Rye... Blairegowrie/Sorrento then our destination... Portsea!

Who's coming: myself and hopefully others...

Of course the above is very tentative and very much open to other ideas/suggestions. The ride up the coast should be good as 48fan states, especially those who have 48s and need more petrol stops than most (I'm not far off given I'm still riding mine in and it's running unbelievably rich until it's first service!!).

    Cheers,
