Find that hard to believe as you can fit a wider tyre in their without any problems.I have a 150 tyre on 18" rims and have no clearance problems.Probably just more of Harleys questionable quality control, and just accept whatever Dunlop gives them at the time.

Do yourself a favour and get rid of the Dunlops. You will never know what you are missing out on if you don't.

You can get Avons in white walls in 16" Or you could buy Metzeler

Just put a new Dunlop white wall on the back of my 08 Road King Classic, done 14,000 km on the old tyre. Probably could have got a few more k's out of it, but most of my riding is 2 up. Bloke at shop was impressed with the mileage I got, he sells Metzlers normally and rekons they don't get as many k's as I have on the Dunlop. I think the secret is keeping your tyre pressures right at all times and easy riding. ( No burnouts ) I run 40psi in the rear and 36 in the front. Mechanic tells me that most of the bikes he services, the tyre pressures are usually low, ie people don't check them enough, hence they wear quicker.

I got 12000 out of the original back Dunlop and 30000 out of the front original Dunlop on my 08 Road King. The second tyre on the back was a Dunlop Eleite 3 (I had no choice because of where I was when I had it fitted) and I got 17000 out of that, but needless to say I did not trust it. I then put a 150x80x16 ME880 on the back and 130x90X16 ME880 on the front. I love them. So what if I get a few less K's. I want to have fun. Oh, the 150 on the back fits fine and no problem given its about 10mm wider than the stock dunflop.

Left in a bit of hurry and did not quite finish. With the original dunlop tyres the bike tracked pretty well. Little bit of a wobble on 120k sweepers, but not scary. With the Eleite 3 the wobble got worse and a little bit of a concern. At this stage I thought it was the bike and did not associate this wobble with the tyre. After fitting the ME880, absolutly no wobbles yet. I have still yet to really break these tyres in and give them a real workout.
