    I have a 2005 Sportster 1200c

I am thinking about making (getting made) a luggage rack. I have a sissy bar attachment (not harley- home made) alongside the seat fixed to the rear guard/shocker arms. It has 2 x 12mm sockets in it to take the sissy bar. I would like to attach the rack at the front  to the sissy bar & at the back to the number plate bracket. It would slope at the same angle as the rear guard so that the lines at the rear of the bike keep that sort of sloping to the bigger rear theme. The number plate bracket seems quite sturdy & the mudgaurd that it is attached to seems strong too, how much weight do you reckon it can take, 20kgs ??

Dermie, if your in Albury, I've got a local stainless fabricator who helped make the rack for my sporty. PM if interested.
    Cheers

hey ol school, not sure if you can help or not but am hoping somehow to put a detachable rider backrest on a fatbob. not sure if there is anything out there as i have not really looked into it but just reading the forums and thought id ask the question. the setup im after is the same as the street glides have where i can just pop it in and out when needed.not sure if you know but they also adjust back and forth. it wont be used often but i do some big miles occasionally and would just give me a bit of added comfort when i do. If there is nothing on the market like this do you think it could be done and if so could you do it or know someone that would?
Maybe someone out there knows of something on the market?

wat we used to do an some the mates still use em was basically turn
9im talkin evos but twinkies could do same)the standard type pillion rest brackets you bolt to guard bolts ass about so the sissy bar/back rest was behind the rider when i was riding i used to do cairns from brissy straight threw an adelaide as well only piss n fuel n smoke stops if you can get a complete sissy bar setup or even make ya own as all they are is some 4mil plate cut to shape an either chromed or powdercoated
