Hey, sorry to have yet another springer question - and yes I know about handling probs but I am looking for anyone who could tell me what are the particular specifications of the springer front end in the photo below. As my sign in name suggests I am into old things. My father had a Matchless years ago and I bought a  2011 883 Iron Sportster. I have older bikes but they just weren't getting me to where I had to go each week without the signs of it in my bike. I don't own a car - never have.  I bought a Sportster because it is the best old classic look that I have seen (besides the 48) What I like about this particular bike - (I hope the owner spots it)  is that it is not overdone but classic. I am going to put the springer on myself but are there certain specs that I need to know about. I am looking at Dyna and Paughco springer front ends.

All the best - hope this finds someone out there.

Yep go for it Bygone, a springer front end on a sporty is gold.

I love my springer and handles just fine, you only see 1 in 100 HDs with springer fronts.

If in any doubt, see the Special Edition Heavy Duty Mag out at the moment, it reprints a previous article on springer VS telescopic front end, springer wins 4:1 (only loss was on weight, who gives a shit on that)....

Post up a pick when you have finished.

I'm lovin' my Springer too but I think the lack of popular support is coz the Springer front end appeals mostly to people who like 'old school' like you do, Bygone. Some like Springer fronts as a point of difference on a more modern bike, but I'm like you and love the old stuff. And nuthin' says 'old stuff' like a Springer! I particularly like the pic you've posted - I want one of those in ma shed!

This is a great forum, great info coming in. I posted my original post it in two sections - one under "Sportsters and one in Workshop general" getting some good info from Waz (883n Harley Convert) and from (Chopaweeza) great info - in the Sportster post for those who are interested. Thanks guys,  I'm looking into those leads you've given me Chopaweeza.
