    Hey Guys,

About to pick up a second hand Iron 883 2010 model with 2500kms and am just after some advice.

Is there any major differences between these year models other than the decal on the tank? My research shows that they are all fairly similar. I'm saving $3500 off the cost of a brand new bike, plus the one I am getting has a few mods which would have cost around $1500, but am not totally sure whether or not the savings justify buying a 2 year old bike vs a brand new one (well 1 and a bit considering its only just 2012).

    Thanks! :)

I don't think they changed in that time except for the tyres? 2500kms is new anyway

Agreed, I don't think there's much of a difference between the bikes made over the last two years - mainly cosmetic.

PS. I've got a 2012 Iron (MY11) for sale! 1600km, 10 months warranty and a heap of mods. PM me....

Not one more horse power different or 1 lb of torque more and at 2500 ks its not even properly run in yet.

take the savings buddy and its still got 5 or so months warranty on it whats not to like

    Good luck with it

Great choice. The 2011 had a chrome derby cover (is that what it's called...the round cover near the gear shift), otherwise as far as I know all three year models are identical.

Faults? Very limited suspension travel so you will want those mid pegs for taking some weight off your backside in the bumps, and the foot pegs have a lip which tends to snag your pant cuffs if you aren't careful making dropping the bike possible if you aren't ready for it. I'd change the pegs.

The only essential modification if not already done is to flip the mirrors under the bars like HD eventually copied with the 48. Great visibility with flipped mirrors, and none otherwise unless you enjoy looking at your arms.

Such a fun ride that once space and dollars permit I'll have another one.

The label on the tank is a bit more Retro on the 2012. Rounded compared to straight on the 2011 an 2010. I prefer the looks of the new one.

Yeah taffy I agree about the mid mounts. Having come from sports bikes I use my feet a lot to shift weight when cornering and don't know how I'd go with forward mounts.... And I've also just put a broomstick bar on, so reckon forwards are out of the question now!
Mmmmm wonder if you can get rear sets??
