Gday boys,
thought I would share my Gooping experience with you all. I import alot of new and used HD clobber, and have been paying guys Ive met per parcel to pack/consolidate and post. I thought I would try Gooping to cut out the extra commissions etc.
I ordered a Lepara solo seat from Lepera, and put an order in with MM for VH pipes and matching Aircleaner (free post in US), was quoted 145US from MM to post to Canberra. I thought, its got to be easier to get it all done together, and cheaper.
I sent email to Gooping with both invoices attached. I also put notes in both orders on Gooping account to clarify, and make sure we were on same page. Post together etc....
Anyway, seat gets posted seperate, $10 handle fee from Gooping plus it was about $20 more in post than the original mob were charging. Then, THE NEXT DAY, pipes etc posted, $10 handle fee, plus they have charged me $245 post, so, all up, $110 more than MM, plus the extra week in transit, plus the seat fiasco. I feel like I have been violated by the original Mad Max bikers while watching them bun my missus in my hotrod.
Really bitter about it. I dont really have the extra $200 odd it cost, plus the extra transit time etc. Im not real happy them at all
Anyway, thats my rant, and I keep thinking the extra $200 could have been the brass grips Ive been eyeing off, or 5 cartons of VB or a decent rub and tug somewhere nice.
Cheers.
$hit bunyip, yeah thats gotta pi$$ ya off.
Cheers TB1
I must be missing something here....Didn't you get a quote off them before using them???
Goopping have a calculator on their site so you can estimate the cost of the item before you place an order with them. I appreciate it's not always easy to get the details of a package before they process it escpecially when it's coming from someone else. I was charged $75 for postage on an item that was only 2 pounds but they told me the dimensions were large so that's why it cost so much. You always take a risk when there's unknown factors. The main reason I use them is to get items on which overseas postage is not offerred. I wouldn't use them to save money as it won't work out.
To minimise the risk ask the retailer not only the weight of the package but the dimensions, once you have those do a quote with Goopping and then factor in the postage to Goopping as well. I can't imagine it would ever work out cheaper than sending direct to Australia from the retailer.
