Going down a cog

Anyone out there gone down a tooth on the front sprocket?

Looking at it in conjunction with cams and headwork to get my 2009 FXST more grunt. Thought it might be a good alternative rather than increasing displacement.

    Cheers

30 t front is pretty common.
    It certainly helps takeoff.
Higher rpm on the highway of course, but many complain 6th is hardly useable under 120 k anyhow.
Speedo reading will be wrong unless corrected.

Is there a formula to work out engine RPM v Speed for cog reduction? What RPM increase will you get at 100 by going down 1 tooth?
