So I bought a new FLD and it sounds like a sewing machine.

My other bike is a carb dyna that runs like a rocket. This FI business has me confused as far as what tuner I need to run it right without having to go to the dealer  like a little bitch

Plan is to fit VH long shot, SE AC and thinking of running SE 211's or Andrews cams which I prefer, on the FLD. I might look at upgrading the heads at a later date

The dealer I bought it off wants me to buy a SE super tuner so he can dyno it, can someone give me a quick lesson on all these tuners cause I really have no idea?

    Cheers

yeah, gotta keep up with the jones' and it makes you look good too

    Nascar still runs carbs

I read for a few hours tonight here but I still dont understand it the pros and cons etc etc got no idea really

Just want the thing to run solid and reliable without all the bullshit.

Hoping for 90/95 like my old carb runs and still gets great fuel ecconomy

Got a good mate here that can get heads flowing  but they would be later

    Guys,
Far be it me to give advice of EFI tuning systems, but most people on this forum prefer the TTS Mastertune program because the do NOT have to utilise the dealers dyno tuner! once you have the knowledge and confidence, you and the road become the dyno! there is no better EFI tuner on the market with the same features and benifits than the TTS.
Also if it all appears a bit daunting, you can simply download calibration files from various sites/forums for your particular bike setup (or pretty close), the other aspect which you cannot put a price on is the help that is available from some very good people on this forum, not to mention that the astute gentleman who designed and implemented TTS, Steve Cole often castes his eye over the forum to straighten us up a bit.
    Regards, Paul

I agree with Paul 100% TTS rules.

I agree with Razor regards elimination of the O2 sensors.
If your bike is 2012 dyna & you decide on TTS, your out of luck as I believe TTS don't support 2011 & later soft tail & 2012 Dyna just yet. I read somewhere they should be available early in the new year.

I should clarify my immediate "TTS Tuning Status" to all regarding earlier comments, I am presently working through the "upload/download" cycle with the TTS Mastertune program, albeit slowly and often double tracing sequence steps. I am no computer or software guru and I am sure that other members will vouch for this!
But I intend taking charge of Tuning my bike and with some help (read a lot of help), I am determined that I will reach my goal, knowing this I believe that I am qualified to inform most people that they will have the same if not better capacities then me. I have found most people especially the younger people are more computer literate then me and this is a good advantage.
I would also like to inform all that todate, I have had a great deal of personal satisfaction from my efforts culminating in my first "test" ride last night where the FXST hummed, the exhaust note IS the best that it has emitted since I bought the bike. The next hurdle is the Vtune program which of course means more time posting dumb questions and the knowledgeable HD forum members whispering "not this guy again".
    Cheers all.

All of us guys with the TTS have been down this road learning how to Vtune. Once you master throttle control when tuning it becomes easy collecting data. There's a shit load of info back 3 years ago when most of us brought the Mastertune and we where bouncing info back and forth between us. Ozroder has some great tips on Vtuning so search his history to find it. Or send him a email for help.

Paul as Hogbag said it takes a while to get it all into your head, but in the end it is not that bad. There is plenty of info here and also on other forums ref TTS etc. Google gives up heaps. Your best bet is to give things a go, if you get stuck or find that things are going wrong. Stop and ask questions on here, The response time is pretty good actually. Thee TTS is the best system out there for the home tuner. Yep it costs a bit for what it is but well worth the money if you intend to mods your bike, as will eventually happen. The system comes into itself then as you save heaps of money not having to Dyno the bike every time you make a change.
My only bitch with the system is that it can't read the MTE files that you get from the ECU. If they fix that issue it will be a godsend. Oh and a re write of the tuning guide so it can be understood by normal human beings.

Bundy I wouldn't be changing anything atm as you have a bike under warranty and the dealer will love you for voiding the warranty by adding an after market tuner, even though he will be recommending an fitting it, Amazing how quick they are to look for an out when warranty work is required.

    Hi guys its me again!
AJ56 you must be a mind reader, I am about to post a query re unable to access MT8 cal files when in the "Select Mastertune-HD Restore File Name" window, all I have access is to MTE files and what I dearly wish to do is save my CAE1760-AE-004 cal file as my default file. If anybody has a way ahead on this issue please let me know. I know what you mean with the Tuning Guide, I have had to read and then re read to comprehend some of the meanings but alls good at the moment.

Hogbag cheers for this, "throttle control" I will follow this up and Ozroder has been most helpful with out even a direct post. He certainly appears to be the goto man for in depth detail on camshafts.

    Hilly,
I did download the CAE176003.MT8 file into the ECM with the correct IVO and IVC specs, this is not a problem. My concern is that the ECM has as its default file the original MTE type file and I would like to replace it with this MT8 file, but presently I am unable to see a path.
