Thundermax Milage

Alright I've asked this question before but I want to try and get a better idea of what the mileage should be with a Thundermax installed. So before I start fiddling, how many Km's do you Tmax owners get from a tank of fuel ?? Mine is around the 250km mark depending on riding conditions, which are usually 2up with highway cruising and giving it a bit through the hills.

On the recent Darwin ride I was getting about 280km out of a tank. That was fully loaded saddlebags and a swag and sitting on about 110kph. Still a few liters to go as well so I'm looking at roughly the same as Scotty.

The worst was about 260km with a massive head wind and not much left in the tank. But the wind was so strong the crows were flying backwards.

Yeah thats why I'm hesitating about fiddling with it, one reason is I don't know what I'm doing  and the other is I don't want the bike running too lean anywhere accross the rev range just to save a bit of fuel. But even though I am usually riding 2up it does seem compared to you guys mine may be running a bit rich ??

Blowing any black smoke on acceleration (get a mate to follow you) it is a rough indicator.

I find the fuel gauge pretty close, but I always reset the trip meter as well. One thing I noticed was that the low fuel light can be eratic regarding how much fuel left in the tank.

I dont think the bike blows any black smoke but will double check anyway, I haven't really run the bike too close to empty just in case the gauge is wrong and I do use the trip meter as well. You are right about the low fuel light it does seem to have a mind of it's own sometimes. I'm heading south tomorrow so I will try to be more accurate with working out the mileage but from the info above it would still seem that I'm losing a few km's per tank so when I get back I might have to seek info (Scotty) on where and how to lean things off a bit. The whole thing might be just a case of riding 2up all the time on mostly mountain ranges so we will see after the run to Warwick down the Cunningham hwy, its pretty much just cruise mode.
