     Gday boys,

Im looking at getting some black apehangers on my 04 xl 883. I have found some 16" ones. They are like the rsd ones. With a right angle at the bottom instead of the old smooth bends. They have them in 12 and 14 too. Do you reckon the 16" are too much? Ive never used apes before. Do they handle much different? Im 6"1 so I dont think the reach should be too much. I need to get risers/clamps. I bought the bike with drags on it and they are a one peice with about 6"inch rise, so I need to get clamps etc. Any thoughts?

Nice one mate, will be keen to see how your experience is. They have been good at communicating with me. I was trying to work out if I could find cheaper cables and buy bars on their own. Its probably easier just to buy the package, I think its a pretty decent price.

What sort of risers would you guys reccomend? I have drags bars with built in risers, so need to get new risers/clamps? If I run 16" Apes, whats the best suggestion for risers???
    Thanks

Gday mate I had 18 inch apes with 4 inch risers, go t numb hands in about 1 hour, comfortable for city riding but fucked for country runs.
Good luck with it. Took mine off and really enjoyed lower centre of gravity again.
    Cheers

+1 I used the standard risers when I had the 14' apes on my Iron. I also agree with Goobs, apes are awesome for local runs but are quite a handful on long rides or bumpierthan normal roads!

goobs' are pretty hard core though. 22" all up means you're screaming down the road in pap smear position. Anything over 15" bars and your cop fodder too. Generally, hands at shoulder height is good, over that and your fighting physics and your circulatory system to look badass.
