My mate seems to think that the hypercharger is the best, but another bloke i talk to says naa thats old school pod filters are better. Just wanna see what some other members on here think, i want the best one you can get.

Common guys, surley someone on here knows what they're talking about. Just need to make sure i get the best one performance wise. This is my first Harley so i'm still learning.

Hmm... strange first post - and intro would be good... but anyway...

It really does depend on a number of factors mate - The air kit is just a small piece of the puzzle that goes towards how your bike performs.

It can, however, come down to a basic equation Air in, Fuel in, Air out. Getting that balance right is what will go a along way to a good ride - including the tuner of course.

So it's very difficult to say what air filter will do a better job without knowing the particulars of the bike in question.

    Clear as mud?

Settle down turbo, give the boys a chance to answer FFS. You probably wouldnt notice the slightest difference between the 2 on a stock engine. ( u will have to make tuning changes BTW) Perhaps with cam, pipes etc etc you would get better performance from a heavy breather type. I like the look of a Hypercharger, others hate them. Go with what you like.

Sorry Mongrel, i'll start again. Hi I'm pistonhead i live on the Gold coast i'm 25 years of age I love my Harley's and look forward to learning a bit more off you guys. I own a 2006 Dyna Street Bob, it's a fuel injected 1450 with a 6 speed trans. So far the only mods it's got is Screaming eagle slip ons. I have a power master chip on it's way from the states.

Hello Pistonhead, Welcome to the fray!!

Ok, so you have a street bob! Nice!!

with the stock engine, you have quite a few options open to you. Once you do an air kit, you will NEED to tune the bike. I have a MoFlow air kit on my fat boy now and it goes fine. Like someone else said... go with what you like, and make sure you tune it, and you will love it!

i got a dyno readout somewhere on the differences between pods hypos an standard with k&n also with no air cleaner
best was k&n with standard covers then came the no filter then the pod last was hypercharger
ive found over the yrs that once ya tune a bike with hypo or pod they tend to run leaner in the higher revs ive always got best numbers with the standard covers backin plate ect with k & n also the fact that if ya not scared of the rain you know ya carb ect is safe from water ect ect

if my memory serves correct the hypo was the hardest as you know hard to get the air flow as if it was real term riding .thats why the blokes i know that got them all run AFR meters these days .we/they found that bike ran leaner after the tune on dyno .once rejetted goin off the afr they were ok but rich down low .imo cant beat standard setup with k&n filter
