     Hello Lads,

As mentioned in another thread, She whom must be obyed has give me the nod to throw some cash at the Fatty... So one of the upgrades is a set of cams.

After much reading, it looks like I will setlle on the SE204s (Unless you have better ideas)

The info I need is... What else do I need?  I know I am going to need new pushrods, and from what I have the adjustables are the way to go.  I will be doing the install myself, so I just want to make sure I order everything I need so I don't get stuck half way through the build.

    Thanks lads.

Hmmm OK. So what you are saying is with the SE204s, I don't need to remove the push rods? This is a 2010 Fatboy, and will not be doing anything else to the donk. I just want to fatten up the idle, and get some low down grunt. Not interested in high end speed.

EDIT - I don't want to have to pull the tank and the rocker boxes too!  :(

Thanks Hilly! I have the TTS so not scared to work on the tuning. :)

What I really need to know is what other than the cams and rods do I need. I have read about bearings, seals etc etc etc. Is there a kit or the like?

    So this is weird...

The kit for the adjustables is... http://www.jpcycles.com/product/432-650

But the quickie rods on their own are about the same price http://www.jpcycles.com/product/420-307

From what I have seen, the quickies are easier to get in - dont habe to remove the Tappit Cover.  I wonder why they don't sell them in a kit.   :(

    Thanks lads!!

Pity they don't seem to sell the Quicky Rods in a kit. :( Fuckit! I might just take the tappet covers off and save another 200 bucks. :)

    Hi mate,

I just changed cams your best bet is adjustable P/R dont go through the rockers its alot more work and the P/R are easy to adjust.

I bought Andrews cams TW37 and P/R at powersportsuperstore for about $500 next by a cam bearing tool with bearing at georges garage US

thats another $250.Read your workshop manual couple times, trick to this job for me was finding TDC jack the arse up and with a bro find TDC on

front and rear cylinders mark these on the timing gear face and take a pic.Start the job with the rear cyl at TDC pull everything out change bearings

then install new cams in rear cyl TDC position.Install P/R for rear adjust to 20 flats then turn engine over till TDC front cyl install P/R.

Im also running a TTS and found a stock tune and its running sweet haven't had time to tune as yet.Hope this helps bro.

Ok...  Thanks to Hilly and others this is what I have so far....

Cams = SE204 (unless someone convinces me otherwise)
Service Kit - 17045-99d for gaskets and O rings - Might get the FuelMoto one as it has the Torringtons in it.
Adjustable push rod kit - http://fuelmotousa.com/pushrods.htm
    Torrington Inner bearings.

And I guess I need a couple of tools...

The bearing installer tool, and the crank locking tool, some loctite and assembly lube.\

    Am I missing anything??

Cool! Does anyone have anything to share on cams. Mine is a stock 96 (not including pipes and air-kit) and I am looking at the SE204

    Ando,

When you say a bit more lift - what do you mean?

EDIT - What I should have said is... what will the difference be??

    Thanks boys,

One thing that I want to do away with is the god awful smooth idle. I know it may sound a bit petty, but a Harley (in my opinion) should not pur like a kitten. It should sound a bit pissed off - if you know what I mean. These EFI bikes just idle too smooth for me - BUT - If it ups the low down grunt, then thats great! I am not in for taking the speedo off the clock, so some low down pull would be great.

Having been through this excercise a few times I would recommend to Just swap out the cams to 204, geta cam kit and adjustable PRods and presto ya have a slightly lumpier motor with plenty of go...

The only tool required is a cam lock and torque wrench...Workshop manual is real handy as well...

Wouldn't worry about changing cam bearings and taking the rocker covers off either, partic if the motor has only a few K's on it...

    Just my two bobs worth...

    Bt

run 2 different spark plugs will give it a thump dump note lol 204 will be the cheapest way to go

Ahah!! Nice one! Run one spark plug would be better!! LOL!!

Yeah - I reckon the 204s might be it. That, and drop the idle speed slightly, and I am hoping it will do the trick!

Will wait for winter though - I am not sacrificing the warm weather - its been too fucking long as it is.
