    Hello lads

I heard back from the TMan. I asked if he thought the Torqster 555 is the right cam and some prices. This was us response...

I am sure that is the right cam for your build. I would suggest a set of adjustable push rods.

    Cams-$358
    HD Push Rod Kit-$164

Shipping on 2 sets of cams is:

    UPS WW Saver-$169.39 1-4 days
    UPS WW Expedited-$161.98-5 days

The 555TQ cams are on backorder until 3/14/12.

Now the problem is I don't want to wait until march. fuckit!!! By the time he gets them and then ships to us it will April.

Looks like I might have to go Andrews now. Bastard.

Tell me about it. I was pumped. I thought I finally had a decision made... And now I'm back to fucked up. :(

I have gone back and am looking at the Andrews cams.

HEY ANDO... You knowledgable bastard ;). Which Andrews do you think will do what I want??

I have gone over them again and I keep coming back to the 48.

    Your thoughts??

That shipping is pretty expensive !
Why don't you guys just wait. Hell it's only a few months.
If I went for Wood Cam's , I would use his 5-6 over the 6-6 for stock comp.
But you are still stuck with getting them from the US. Try Fuel Moto for Wood's stuff.

Ando I know what your saying, but I only recommend it from experience using his TW-7 with stock beehive springs.
The stock springs work well to the rev limiter, and are only a little noisier than stock when really hot.
Maybe they will weaken over time ? But who around here keeps a build that long LOL !!

Dicko, Yep , If we want it, we pay !!

Ok.  I think I am going to give the TMan a miss.

I sent him another email for clarity to see if you could supply gaskets etc and the response is, well, you read it.  It seems he has so many orders, he doesn't need mine.

    My email

    Hello Tom,

    Thanks for the reply.

Are you able to supply all the gaskets as well, or should I source them locally??

Can please confirm that the pushrods quoted below are adjustable saving us from pulling the heads off?

    His reply.

    John,

They are adjustable. We use H-D gaskets.

    Thanks,

    Tom  Reiser (TR)
    T-Man Performance

Seriously!!  If you can't take 2 minutes to respond to someone's email, then fuck ya!!

I will now be looking at an Andrew comparison, and buy though Rollies.  I know they will respond to my emails.

    Cheers
    Mongrel

Mongrel, unfourtunatly TR could use some better PR skills ! but you have to realize this is probably their peak season over in the US (winter engine builds) , and he probably has literally hundreds of emails every day to answer.
How many big companies are you able to get direct access to the top man ?
This guy really is one of the big names in the states.

Note in this article, he builds every engine himself: www.tmanperformance.com/pdf/AMD%20Article.pdf

Maybe he needs a full time Tech Support guy like Gary Wallace from Andrews, but Andrews are a huge company.
At the end of the day it's your call.

    Mate,

I hear what you are saying but I will use an recent episode of a recent example of how you should treat a new customer.

I emailed Rollie's during their Xmas holidays and didn't expect to get a reply until they came back, but what happened?? Rollie himself answers the email and gives me details and pricing during about 5 emails.

Then the first day back from the break, one of the guys from Rollie's calls me and the order is paid for and shipped that day.

It's not hard mate. I know, I run my own small business. It takes 2 fucking minutes to answer an email.

First impressions last mate, And id you are getting 100 emails a day and you can't keep up, then you should do something about it.

Sorry man. He has done his dash with me. If he is like this before he has my cash, wonder what he will be like when he has it.

he did answer ya questions mate bit short but to the point mmmmm i get shorter answers on ebay some ppl consentrate on the ppl in the shop as they are there ready to spend but if ya on phone email ect ya only gettin prices maybe he had a knok back off his or someone elses missus the nite before

crank shaft runout can still have geardrives as long as its not over 3 thou or over a thou lash in gears done plenty over the yrs an do all my own truein an welding here use to true all my shovel evo engines as well an shot peen all flywheels too ..most get told the gear drives need to have crank done as well only in 50% of cases but for the extra 800 ya basically garenteeing ya flywheels wont shift in the future
ya gotta remember if ya pinion shafts outta true then the bits of alloy scaped out of the inside of your pil pump is goin threw the engine an can fuck it up rather do the job right than put a motor back together knowin the cusyomers pinion shaft is outta wack
i show every customer their oil pump internals an show em if possible the runout on pinion shaft on dial gauge as well cant understand why most in here will go to expense of puttin cams in an not checkin all the other bits that are more breakable than the cams
these are piks of the inside housein on a oil pump on bike that had done 40k

    Nice on Old Skool! :)

So... I will ask the dumb question - How do you accurately check the runout?

andos right i have made a steel plate which i then mount my magnetic dial gauge on an turn engine over slowly by hand also ya must check runout with camplate on ..the stealers tell ya .015 but realy anything over 3thou will cause probs
in the specs sheet for the s & s drive gears its got the runout max allowed an also has the spec for lash in the geardrives will see if i got a sheet here scan it and post it .if ya want a good strong bottom end best thing is to retrue it an weld an then do cams .everyone in here has different ways of buildin motors some do just drag or some only want to do the bare minum to get some performance i like a motor that will give a mate a run for his money an one that ya can have a good day out at the twisties on or off the track buit i mainly like to build a motor that will sit on the 140 /160 kph on the big rides across or threw our great land ..my sons reckon i was nuts lol used to leave home on a fri ride to cairns straight threw have a party sat nite then ride straight back to brissy ready for work monday if ya got a comfy bike theres nuthin like doin a big ride hey

fly wheels are only heat pressed together mate nothin to hold em tight hey ive had to fix bikes with only 30k on em an oil pump pinion an camplate were all fucked
all it takes is a nice long ride to get motor hot then give it big fist full or burnout or even to back off real quik from a good speed can make them outta true as the harley fella in 2000 said to me THESE ARE DISPOSABLE MOTORS LIKE EVERYTHING THESE DAYS i told him if i paid over 27k ect for a bike that was disposable id smash him ...he humg up lol

So today I was recommended the SE 211 for a stock 96.

Was told it has a lumpier idle than the 204.

    Anyone had experience with these?

The SE211 is not at its best in a stock motor. You would be dissapointed.
Do you want Lumpy or rideable ?
