G'day all,
I had to put new mirrors on after breaking one, so I decided to flip them. I have flipped mirrors before, but had ape hangers at the time and it wasnt really successfull, but, this time (now that I have lower bars)- FANTASTIC! I get a good view of everything behind me, without looking at my arm and shoulder covering half the view. Thats it, I'm hooked. Mind you, it does take a bit of getting used to (the first couple of times I looked I thought my mirror had fallen off for a second or 2 before I remembered to look down and not up!(LOL)) but now I have got used to it its great. Another benefit is that the mirrors are not so easy to bump out of alignment now when walking around the bike, because they dont stick out now.
First thing I did on my Iron when I got it home was flip the mirrors. Best and easiest mod ever. Like you say, you can actually see behind you instead of your own shoulders. TC
There is one drawback for some of you though, if you are one of those posers that likes to check in your mirrors all the time to see if you still look cool, then forget it if you have flipped mirrors, you'll just have to make up for it and satisfy your insecurity in other ways, like unnecessarily revving your motor a bit more at the lights! (LOL)
