Guess the knobs have forgotten their last cost / benefit analysis. Fitting front number plates safely and adequately to already existing registered bikes and new models ain't a cheap excercise.

"One of the concerns, in the context of this report, which is focused around the camera system is that motorcyclists do not have a plate on the front of the motorcycle and it is something I will need to have a look at in conjunction with Terry Mulder, the Minister for Roads." ...

Sure, Riders have a '30 time greater likelihood of an accident' but how many Riders are killed as a direct result of 'speed'? I'm not saying speed isn't a cause in bike accidents/fatalities, but I'll wager the stats would show the greater proportion are collisions with cars / trucks / buses / pedestrians all claiming, "sorry mate, I didn't see you". No number plate is gonna prevent that dumb arse reasoning.

Best you ban smoking Mr Ryan - look at the stats on that!

 

Oh ffs .... as basically already said, front number plates where banished for safety reasons ... and if ya read between the lines of Isaac's post (Peter Ryan's quote) it has revenue raising written all over it.

And if speed camera's are working so well why are motorcyclist's still being taken out by careless cage drivers, in most cases it has nothing to do with anyone speeding.

Blaming not having a front number plate for the reason that bike riders are speeding is rediculas to a fault.
It's alot of other things to but I don't swear and see no reason to belittle polititians more than they already have.

I didi hear that the toll cameras were set up in Victoria to use the front number plate. As bikes do not have one, they cannot get the toll cost tracked back.

Ive certainly been pinged by a speed camera from the rear on my bike - dont know why all cameras arent set up the same if its such a concern.....??
