Hi all...As we know,We cant fit the compressor of the Shotgun shock system to the ABS 2011 model softails due the ABS being in the way.
I was thinking,Why not fit it without the compressor and use my home or servo station compressor to make adjustments to the shock.Just fit a tyre valve on the air line where the compressor would have conected.I only want the shock so when 2uping i can raise and stiffen the arse end so i dont bottom out.
I cant see why this couldnt be done.
Anythoughts??????
Hi all...Ozrodder,Thats a good idea.Useing the frame to hold air mite be an easier way to make adjustments to the shock rather than trying to hold the air hose on the valve and try and flick switches at the same time.
Hi all...For those that may be interested.
I sent an Email to the people at Shotgunshock about this idea. They said they could wire the compressor so i could use the Shotgunshock compressor to make adjustment to the shock without fitting the compressor to the bike....That will make life easy i think.
I have a shotgun shocks fitted to my 2011 fatboy with ABS and a compressor, they have them ready to go and are great to deal with
Hey Henry, you say you have Shotgun's mounted on your ride including the compressor, where about's does the compressor mount if you're still running your ABS?
The compressor sits in front of the shocks not above like the non ABS model I'll post up a picture tonight when we get back from riding
That's great! I've been planning on removing the ABS from my bike so I could fit the Shotgun's, sounds like I won't have to anymore.
A pic would be great! Thanks..
Spero, Just got an email from JD and the Shotguns are $1300 shipped to Aus with the 20% discount at the moment. Definately will fit Softails with ABS, no drilling or tapping involved. I'll be ordering mine this week.
Here a photo of where the compressor sits nice and neat
I couldn't find any when I was looking
Cheers Stuffa, much appreciated!
Cheers for the pic Henry, I checked out my bike today to see what sort of space was in front of the shocks & it looked promising, your pic has just confirmed there's plenty of room to mount the comrpessor there. I'm still going to get rid of the ABS though as I want to relocate my coil to where the ABS unit is mounted, plus the front unit looks like shit! I've already disonnected my ABS (electrical plugs anyway) & I really don't think the ABS is all that superior, that said I've only been riding in dry road conditions so it's probably comes into it's own in the wet.
Thanks for your info guys, it's been very much appreciated!!
The shotguns are the ducks nuts. Just don't do the same stupid thing I did, installed the shocks and a couple of weeks later went to change the gearbox oil and realized I had to remove the compressor and drop the shocks to drop the oil. If your installing shotguns especially on softails with ABS do yourself a favour and change the gearbox oil at the same time.
