Ok guys, I'm 5'7 with well proportioned inseam, I like puppies, ice cream and long walks....wait, shit - wrong forum.

Looking at forward controls for my Dyna when my bike is decrated, but I've never ridden with em before. An I better off waiting or just jumping right in and getting them fitted pre delivery?

    Yours in anticipation

    Daniel

it's pretty easy... where do you live?

the hardest part is removing the shaft from the primary... taht cost me $250 to have a workshop remove the primary to remove the shaft.. the whole job will cost $500+

what year is the bike... for '06 and later they have reduced reach versions...

Reduced Reach Forward Control Kit - Dyna®

Want to stretch the riding position of your mid-control equipped model, but not comfortable with the long reach to factory-position forward controls? This complete kit is the perfect alternative. It positions the feet up and forward 10" from the mid-control position, but 1" closer to the rider than the standard position factory forward controls, placing the rider's boot at a comfortable pivot point for improved support and leverage. Available in chrome or gloss black finish, the kit includes left and right footpeg supports, brake and shift lever assemblies, brake and shift linkages, and all required hardware.

    50700008  Fits '06-later Dyna® models equipped with mid-controls. Chrome

50700007 Fits '06-later Dyna® models equipped with mid-controls. Gloss Black

    Hi Underground,

I have a 2008 FXDL Lowrider which had mid controls on it, I went on a long trip a while back and was constantly using my highway pegs, which made a big differrence when doing long rides. I then decided to bite the bullet and fit forward controls, thge best thing i ever did, I beleive they are more comfortable on longer rides and  better for your legs, being outstretched and beleive you can put more KLMs down due to being comfy.

If you want to throw the bike around like a cafe racer or gp bike i dont think they are suited,BUT for cruising & long trips  you cannot beat them and i was surprisingly shocked at how much better i feel since having them fitted, especially my back & legs.

I am only 5Ft 8, so i cannot see yourself having a problem, but everyone is different, see if you can take one for a cruise before fitting.

    Cheers

Had H-D forward controls fitted to my 2012 Super Glide and tested them out today . Heaps better , legs not cramped now , I,m 6' 2" . Not cheap , $630 fitted , but well worth it , and everything is still covered by warranty

Just fitted Kuryakyn 9064 3" extended forwards to 2012 FXDC. WOW!!! I had highway pegs before and had ridden a mates 2008 FXDC with HD forwards but the Kury kits is great. Awesome quality components and looks Mickey Mouse.

Mine came new with mid mount controls and on long rides I would get cramped up and sore. I bit the bullet and fitted the reduced reach forward controls and have not looked back since. They are definitely a better setup for comfort without being too far foward. I wish I'd had it done before I picked it up.

Thanks for that info .... Looks like i'll have to give the fatbob a miss,, pity its the bike i like and i think will suit my riding style lots of hills riding 2-300 klm days throw some bags on and do 2-3 trips a year to the east coast . But if i have to start spending big dollars to get it to fit its not worth my while may has well buy a different bike my problem is , my mechanical shills are zero , my knoledge is - zero , and the dealers seem to think i've been put on this earth rto buy them a new boat , every time i walk in .

But what bike i'll ask for imput on a new thread . cheers .
