I have a compufire ign module i can send you to try, if it fixes it you can make me an offer, if you don`t want it or it does not fix your problem post it back, i`ll never use it its for elec start only bikes fully programmable.
that model ign system was not very long lasting, also it could be just a circuit breaker as well ,
Faulty "Bank angle sensor" ?
Zap, i'm a bit late i know.
Well years back i had a dyna ignition on a shovel, never had it on long and it let me down half way up the Bells line road just out of Sydney, i was on my own no mobiles in them days m8.
anyway the dyna ignition got the chop & i went to Compufire & that was many years back a mate still has that shovel & just road it up sunshine coast from sydney two months ago never missed a beat there and back. still with that same compufire ignition. so take up the offer!
part no 21832, electric start only, good for 1970 -1999, i bought it years ago second hand, i put a kicker on mine so its no good to me.
i am always willing to help folks out but i`m not giving it away, i paid $200 for it and i reckon $100 is fair, i can`t get to the post till after christmas, i`m in Geelong.
Send me your address by PM, i`ll post it to you, if it works and your happy pay me paypal or direct deposit, if its not what you want post it back.

Check your ignition circuit breaker
I had a 91FXR which did the same thing when new.
Took it back to the dealer who had an auto electrician as the workshop supervisior and he picked it straight up.
They are an automatic reset breaker which Harley ended up making it a recall.
Scary thing when your in peak hour traffic and you lose all power.
Did the ignition get you going?
Nope
Got an email from him, he put his bike into a shop to get fixed and he`s sending the ign back to me, not sure what was repaired to get him going, would like to know.
