I was on a Toy Run today, and at the beer and snagger do afterwards the subject of H-D's wheel manufactory in South Australia closing down came up. From this conversation one chap indicated the fact (?) that NO H-D's were brought into Oz' fully assembled in crates and that ALL H-D's were imported in parts for final assembley here. No one else had ever heard of this, but the guy was very forceful on this matter, so thought I'd check this one out with you gurus

    Thank you,

     Wrong!!!

All HDs are fully assembled in US before being crated up and shipped here "dry". ie- no fluids. They are shipped completely assembled, not like others that still need some final assembly......like front ends attached.

Upon arrival at the individual dealers, they are filled with oil, brake fluid and fuel, (Oh, and water for those vrod thingies!) then ridden for a few kays to check everything works as intended. When you buy a brand new HD and it has say "8 kms or so" on the clock, these kms were done here by the dealer. Not one km is done stateside!

Yeah, I could'nt understand why the 2011 touring model (103s) had the ACRs and the 2012 103 dyna models did'nt!.....but after looking at photos of the bike, I could'nt see the telltale wires leading down the middle of the rocker covers so I thought they must be right....no ACRs!

After picking up the bike I discovered that the rocker covers no longer have a hole down the guts anymore! So the wires are fed thru the sides, near the throttle body.

I pulled the primary cover, preparing to instal a SE comp sprocket and found one already there!!...saved me the hassle so all I needed to do while I had the cover off  was fit a SE heavy duty clutch spring.

When I originaly asked the "salesman" about these two components, he refered to one of the "techs" and rang me back to say that they only come on the 120R motor!!!

Admittedly, I asked these questions before they had any 2012 models in store........But still, you'd think they'd keep their techs up to speed on the coming models!
