    hi fellas,

hope you don't mind me picking your collective brain while i'm waiting for the bike to arrive.

i was in an aftermarket store and the bloke was telling me about the dynojet, with a screen and up to 6 different programs to run(i presume these are maps).he mentioned if i get the dealer to install pipes, air and a tuner,it will be locked so only a harley dealer can do stuff to it. is this true ? wouls that be something like a sert ?

a different aftermarket dude told me about a tuner called terminal velocity 3 says it self tunes on the go...this sounds great for someone who knows bugger all about tuning a bike...anyone got any experiance with one ?

and most of you talk positivly about your beloved tts.

i live about an hour from a country dealer, and guess i would like to tune it myself(if it's easy to learn) but not essential.

    what do ya rekon ?

Funny you should ask this question now as there is a fair bit of discussion at the moment about the different tuners available. By the way, the dynojet tuner doesn't lock to the bike as you were told.
There are several self tuners to chose from eg. Thundermax, powercommander with autotune & a new one being discussed atm from Cobra. Revolution performance's EMS have a product that sounds like it might suit. There are heaps more around so do your home work before diving in.
If you want to tune the bike yourself then TTS (which does lock to the bike) is the one I'm firmiliar with, while Harley's SEPST also does the job but without as many tuning tools as TTS. If your bike is a 2011 or later Soft-tail, then TTS isn't an option, at least till early next year.

Just a little correction/clarification to the above statement. The Dynojet Power Commander does not lock to the bike but the Dynojet Power Vision DOES lock to the bike, same as any other tuner that reprograms the ECM. The Power Commander series of units is and add-on and does not reprogram the ECM.

Yep he could be talking about the SERT or SEPST which is locked to one bike/ECM & usually set up by the dealer. You can buy the software & cables yourself though & tune it at home. All you need is a laptop. The training DVD may come in handy as well. SEPST was quite affordable a few months back when you could buy direct from the US dealers. My tuner & the software/cables/dvd cost about $520 all up. There are heaps of other tuner options though.
