XiEDs for EFI Sportster.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has fitted XiEDs to their EFI Sportster.  I have a 2007 1200 with a high flow air filter and Screamin Eagle slip ons.  I had the computer flash done to stage 1 specs and the bike generally runs very well and has plenty of power but it does pop on deceleration and has a slight stumble at very light throttle openings.  I am told this is because the engine is running too lean and that XiEDs will fix the problem.

I don't plan on doing any more engine modifications and I'd rather not buy an expensive tuner if I don't need to.  I have heard the XiEDs work well and for around $100 they seem like a good option, but I don't know anyone who has fitted them.  There are varying reports on their effectiveness on the internet but I'd like to hear from any forum members who have direct experience with them.

Lastly, are they available in Australia or do they have to be imported from the USA.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I run xieds on my Iron although I only have exhaust, not AC, and they seem to be really good -the plugs are a good colour and great power across the full range.
I will leave others to advise what the go is with pipes AND a/c but I was under the impression that you'd need a tuner with both mods......

I had XiED's on my Iron with just the exhaust upgrade & it ran fine. Nice grey pipes & no decel pop. I have just put on a 2-1 pipe & high flow aircleaner & have swapped out to a SEPST though. My dealer said the XiED leads are "crap" but I had no issues with them.

I originally posted this thread hoping to get lots of local feedback about the XIEDs for my 1200 Sporty as it had a very annoying engine stumble / splutter / surging at light throttle openings, and a fair bit of decel popping.    I got a few helpful repies, but not as many as I would have liked sooo....after doing lots of research, both locally and on the USA HD Forums site (where there is a huge thread on this issue), I found that the general consensus re XIEDs is that about 90% of people who bought XIEDs for their Harley were very happy with them.  The remainder advised that they didn't make much, if any difference to their ride.  I didn't find anyone who said they made their bike worse than it was prior to fitting them, so I thought I would get some and see for myself, as I didn't want to fork out the $500 plus for a tuner and a dyno on my relatively stock bike if I didn't need to.    (The only mods I have are a K&N high flow air filter, S.E. slipons and a Stage One flash for the ECU).

I ordered them from Nightrider in the USA and they arrived here in just two weeks, which I thought was pretty quick given that it is Christmas time!  Total price $113.00 including shipping.

They only took 5 minutes to fit and then came the moment of truth...the first ride.  I was really pleased after travelling only a few kilometres as the bike was much smoother to ride, without any apparent surging or decel popping.  I then took the bike for a much longer ride and am happy to report that the XIEDs cured the stumble / surging /spluttering completely, and also reduced the decel popping dramatically.  There is still an occasional pop in the exhaust, but it is very minor compared to before.  As an added bonus, the throttle response seems much crisper too.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the result, especially for the price, compared to buying a tuner and the expense of a dyno etc.  (Yeah, call me cheap if you like).

For anyone out there who has similar problems to mine after fitting an exhaust and air cleaner, the XIEDs are a good option.  The info from the USA forums is that they won't work on an engine that has any mods over and above stage one.  A tuner and dyno is needed for those engines.

I hope this is of use to some of you.

ok, so I got my X14iED from nightrider.com yesterday. Pretty fast shipping, would recommend them. The main reason, i got these was to help the decel popping i'm getting after installing my new BUB pipes. After a bit of reading up on it, it seems like its a good and easy upgrade for any sportster, even stock.
So I fitted them yesterday when I got home from work, super easy install too and my first run was this morning on the way to work (~50km trip).
Definitely reduces decel popping, in fact, i only noticed it if I changed down to early and had really high revs, i got one or 2 pops then, but otherwise, not a single decel peep. As for any other improvements...didn't notice anything yet. It did seem to run better, but its too early to tell if that the placebo effect or not yet. I'll do another update here if anything of note happens in the next few weeks.
    Cheers
