Yeah I had the "free" membership the first year and turned up on a ride with a few mates of which 1 was on a jap cruiser (or between bikes as he likes to call it) They fairdinkum made us feel unwelcomed to say the least. Not even a g'day, maybe we didnt have the right amount of harley branded clothing on ?? I thought get over yaselves and ended up havin a great day RIDING minus the hogs & their hags

Recently I rocked up at HH on my train, A hogged up 30 sumthing wearin harley boots, harley jeans, a harley jacket, harley vest , harley chains, and a harley ring on every finger comes up looks over my bike & says some shit about it being an import and not a legit harley, I said get fucked idiot, all your harley clothes are made in china, strangely enough, no comeback

so, for me, no hog

Over the last 3 years I have ridden some good miles in various parts of the US (texas mid north, california etc) and one thing I notoce is that riders all wave to each other (prolly a bit easier cause they are on oposite side of the road which means ya wave with ya clutch hand).

Shame is like many have pointed out here - some wave - some nod the helmut - most dont and I guess we older cyclists are a bit to blame for not teachin or preachin' it and some of the class seperations like being arrogant about H-D vs japps etc. personally I nod at every mtorcycle i pass.

Have a look at some of the most famous 1% in this scountry of old days that have been involved with HOG for many reasons (not my position to name 'em) but they saw the need and they also knew how to judge the treasures from the trash and did what they needed. i know some out there reading this will doubt that but take look at some of the chapter sponsors over the years as a start point and someof those fellas were and are as hard as steel but natures true men with the best of standards who saw the need - end of story.

HOGGIES are certainly not 1%ers as a whole but hey they are motrcyclist and yes I am a member NOT of any chapter as it came with my bikes and yes I have been to their rallies inclding the last in WA last month and I did not have a HOG patch in sight nor did I attend with a chapter I went alone with a mate, i mingled when it suited, I hit the pubs, I looked at the bikes I saw soem wankers and I saw and met some tops fellas and gals but I didnt tar them all with the same brush cause I can walk into a Sydney nighclub and see someone who is an absolute wanker bt i dont classify everyone in that nighclub to be the same wanker.

I was always taught to accept each for their own and to hang with those of like mind and ignore the other s but always to respect. I think that is often all to ofetn lost or misinterpretted.

It is very easy to misinterpret these threads or a comment or take one line in many out of context so i hope not to have offended anyone - While I am not an actve memer rather one who has it because I was lucky enough to purcahse a new bikem- I guess it is easy to take aim at the big target that is HOG but the point is?

Tis all to funny hey, i usually give every bike rider a nod or wave, in most cases dont get one back unless its another harley, maybe it's because i'm wearin the wrong clothes or maybe i have a chain on my wallet so i dont lose it while riding, or maybe i'm not riding with the right crew, beats me, i have a giggle to meself even though i dont understand the politic's or mentality involved, whilst on the subject, have ya noticed harley owners appreciate and respect all motorcycles .... non harley riders like everything except harley's, until they get one ..... and whats the go with the anti harley brigade who wet themselves about going to sturgis and hiring a harley .... to me if your a member of HOG or a member of the local ballet society and enjoy it, go hard, why is it neccesary to explain yaself  

its funny now that I ride a HD Ive noticed a lot of jap riders are a bit surprised when I give em a nod or say hello at the traffic lights .

lol years ago I was on me little 250 japper and I came up on a mob of bikes (a 1% club) and I just slowly rode through them and kept going .

I was in a hurry and couldnt wait but I didnt wanna go racing through them either ,been there done that and will never do it again ...but thats a story for the camp fire as the visuals make it .

Member of any bike riders, footy, dancing, stamp collecting, skydiving, tea, or social club, No. I don't like conforming. 

I ride when I want to, go where I want to what ever the weather may be doing. I don't need people around me to enjoy what I love doing and if I see a fellow rider, I give a nod, as said by Hesh " A "G'day fellow rider, happy to see you out ridin". I even give the 1% guys a nod but they never respond. Such is life." I have had a few nods and waves in return, even from a very few 1%.

Too much paperwork. Too many rules to protect the morons who only ride on sunny Sundays. If you enjoy crowds do it. If you like doing your own navigating push the button and go riding. You might meet some people going the same way and make new friends.

but I point out that many of the so called "Village idiots" are highly successful buisness men and women, sure they ride on weekends as that is the only time that they have to spare to follow their passion which is Harley's....for heavens sake who the hell are they hurting, not me...and not you....be happy.....I am no milksop or village idiot and AM a Hog member and thouroughly enjoy the mates I have made in the club, so it's ok to join and it's also ok NOT to join...ride and enjoy in anyway that suits as long as you ride and enjoy....Why knock what you do not obviously understand.....my thoughts anyway

Our chapter shut (with the dealer) a couple years now, I have been a member since 2002, our group have continued on under a different name, we are not allowed to use HOG but we are all international members, we still ride using HOG rules but we are not tight on it

I thing rules are a good thing, especially in a group, if the group decide prior to setting off, everyone knows what to expect, even you guys that ride with mates make rules, only they are not broadcast prior to the ride, you just know them.

I do like riding in a group but the odd trip solo to the big smoke is relaxing

Well guy's all your comments are indeed relevant, and I don't blame anyone for fucking off wanking idiots, I have at times gotton the absolute shits with the egos prevalent in my Hog club....There are absolute wankers everywhere, and I ignore (or try to) most of it and if it gets too heavy, I piss off and ride with mates, it's not about anything but the ride.....Went to Gisborn this afternoon and thank whatever for the Sunbury overpass, the size of the hail could do some serious damage....and the wankers in cars actually STOPPED in both lanes of the bloody Calder highway in a 110kph zone...I nearly wet (ha ha) myself...shit it was out there...my waterproof jacket???? ripped off again....anyway....Merry Christmas to all and ride safe...........

All I can say is when ever it starts to hail I always stop too (not in the middle of the lane though, I usually pull over somewhere) because if you are stationary there is a lot less chance of smashed windscreens and stuff, because there is only the momentum of the hailstones themselves. But if you are traveling at say 60kmh and the hailstones are doing say 40kmh there is an impact speed of 100kmh, as opposed to only 40kmh if you stop. If I'm a wanker for wanting to protect my car then so be it.

You fellers must have horrible chapters!  I'm not just a member but also sit on the BOARD of the local HOG.  They were asking me to join for years before I gave in.  Doesn't make me any different than anybody else.  I'm not even an active participant nor have attended many of their events.  That's my freedom.  And I don't wear a HOG fullback patch on the back either. 

When I do make it to a meeting, I stand out in the crowd because I do belong to another group and that's what's patched up on both my vest and jacket.  It's about respect and the autonomy to do what you want to do, when you want to do it and where. Luckily our chapter is active with senior members that know how to ride. 

Chapters are a marketing tactic to support the local HD dealer. So be it. It's not for everyone.  I would say that 95% or my riding is done solo.  The other 5% is combining everything and everyone else.  And I also have that mindset to never leave a fellow rider behind especially if they are stranded.

So if you belong to a chapter or not, or an MC/1%....personally....I don't give a fug.  If we cross path, let's roll.

Wankers appear in all Clubs regardless of passion - as in Rugby or Soccer or Car Clubs or whatever etc, etc. The latest bias starting to undermine OZ HD circles appears to be the 'greys/imports'. It's a 'people thing' to need to hate or put down someone or something! HOG cliques would be no different to snarky little cliques anywhere.

However, I haven't been to a HOG ride yet. That being said there's nuthin' written here that's put me off. Maybe that's coz I'm older and fully EXPECT to meet the occasional dickhead or group of dickheads in any given gathering.

This is a thread about peoples own HOG experiences and the 'HOG bashing' is a result of the negative experience by those who copped it; but anyhoos, I'll probably lob up for a HOG ride or two and decide then whether or not it's for me.

mmmm im in a different club def not hog had no real trouble but most are plastic an melt when things get heated lol only thing that really pisses me off is they dont wanna get in an help the U.M.C or the U.M.C.Q.S.C wirth the fight agaianst all the new laws they want to hit ALL RIDERS WITH eg; fluro vests ..no alchol ...more rope wires on roads ect ect the main 1% clubs are in the front line also few the socail clubs are havin a good go too but the uselesssissies an hog think they will be ok but if one goes they (all bike riders jappa harley ect ect) all go down .to many clubs ect think because they not 1% the laws wont affect them but they are WRONG an that the main beef i got with hog anthe others

a few isnt enough ol mate we as riders need all even the jap riders ect ect even the car clubs will be hit soon enough hey when ya get the likes of major ma an some others in hog that say they are not associated with the umc an expect to be treated different is wat pisses me off i got mates in hog an in heaps other social clubs as well but they as you an some of the hog members will back the fight with the gumbyment but its all riders an when a bike rider says they arent like the other riders its shit they want to wear a patch on their back n play hero but when the shit hits the fan they run like dogs ..if ya cant handle the heat dont sit near the fire .
i love bikes an always have couldnt wait to be in a 1% club an now due to health reasons i dont an cant ride uless it only few k from home but i do my best to keep good people on the road an that way i get my smiles from watchin bikes i work on go down the road with owners that cant stop smileing .
im not anti hog but i just wish some that think they have bought the lifestyle would either help with the figjht or fuck off
