Scouser, it seems the norm to start with stock oil, given the age of your bike i would definitely change the oil, if you dont change the oil atleast make sure the level is to spec.

Steering head nut is 1 1/2" ......or 38mm if ya rough!

Scouser, 2 x 1 litre bottles mate (875ml each tube did'nt ya say?)..............dunno how you need more?.....unless you got 500ml ones from somewhere?

Easy way to mearure is to slip a steel rule down em till you see it just touch the surface (tubes upright of course) then check your depth at the top. If you got too much in there, get a length of plastic hose and suck some out, either with a syringe, or with your mouth (just don't swallow too much!!!)

Scouser , when filling a leg with oil , get to 160 mm down , then measure how many ml it takes to get you to 150mm , you can then add oil later without removing forks knowing how high the oil level will be .

I ran 15w oil with progressive springs on last bike with good results.

Current bike I have Ricor intiminators, standard springs and 10w oil with better results.
