What is next the stage for my TC88 ?

    Greetings Gentlemen,

Its an original 2000 Fat Boy TC88 with drag pipes, SE hi-flow air intake, and 42mm SE (Mikuni) carb.

Goes great and kills the 96CI when street dragging or at highway overtake speeds, but....

next year the stock bikes come out with 103CI engines.

Bugger........, I've ridden a Fat Boy with a 103CI engine and mine won't kill them.

Whats the next stage/upgrade/go-fast trick for my hard ridden 88CI so I don't get left behind?

I especially want top end (hi-revs), I'm happy to flog the engine, it can take it and I find thats where the TC88 excels.

    Looking forward to suggestions pls.

    Cheers,

    FatBoyPete

Mate if your interested I have a set of Andrews 37 cams, which might suit you if you don't want to major works, brand new.  I have just upgraded my 88 to a 95, but went the full hog, high compression pistons, 258Cams and CNC Ported heads, just running it in at the moment, but wants to pull hard, have a mate with a 103 who's a bit worried, right up until he wants to pull out his old shovel, that will be a challenge it flies.  If your considering an upgrade do some headwork and make the air flow better, stroking your motor will cost some extra, and might be a bit over the top.  Or you could upgrade to 97, 98, 100 or 103, without stroking, the 100 is a square motor 4" stroke with a 4" bore, specialised build and the 103 in an 88 is a 4" stroke with a 4.060" cylinder, you have to find pistons that aren't made for strokers and by the correct cylinders.  I went with the 95, they are tried and tested, but you will struggle to beat a big 103 with correct parts if it's a Stage IV or better.

I hope you have done, or doing, something about the hand grenade cam tensioners on your 88.   All the performace upgrades will come to nothing if the tensioners fail and lunch your motor.

    Just my 2 cents
